Ghandi was arguably one of the greatest leaders in all of human history. India is a nation with a brilliant history spanning millenia, and a rapidly modernizing, vibrant economy developing a democratic government that has to deal with dozens of ethnicities and religions... something the US (or anyone else) hasn't quite figured out yet.
So there. India is the face of the future. India matters.
a leader stands on the shoulders of his people.
some other chief could inspire the same level of achievement from his tribe; it would be a different style of company, maybe just as successful.
apple definitely needs inspired, talented, and charismatic leadership to survive in its niche; that only Jobs can provide it is doubtful.
whether they can find that some one else who can do it is another question entirely.
So how does this play out over the international scale?
business decisions made with an eye to buying legislation and litigation choke off economic innovation . India and China become the loci of future IT developements. Europe muddles along like it has for the past 60 years, and we enjoy the great shakeout as gas prices rise to real levels and the loans come due.
