  1. Use Amazon Unbox on Ask Slashdot: How/Where To Start Watching Dr. Who? · · Score: 1

I use Amazon Unbox for all of the new series, including specials. This however doesn't cover everything modern. There seems to be some cartoon that you have to have a proxy to download from BBC. Cheers!

You are my hero, and I would be happy to tune in to any of your aforementioned channels. DrumSmuggler, ha, you made my day :)

  5. No matter what language... on Why Overheard Cell Phone Chats Are Annoying · · Score: 0, Flamebait

I ride a commuter bus to and from Redmond,WA and Seattle, and on a daily basis I hear multiple cellphone conversations. No matter what language they are in, they piss me off. I plug my ears up with nice plug-style earphones, listen to music, and still hear the chattering. Message to all on the 545: STFU and wait until you are off the bus to chatter constantly. It's got less to do with language in my case, but you get the picture.

  6. One ring, no extas... on How Do You Handle Your Keys? · · Score: 1

I think that the old saying about the wise adapting themselves to the world would be a better way to go. I have never been able to bring myself to use fancy key chain decorations.

  7. Microfilm on Archiving Digital Artwork For Museum Purchase? · · Score: 1

Dump the data to a series of microfilms, store in a canister, decode later.

  8. Doctor Who on Astrophysicists Find "Impossible" Planet · · Score: 2, Interesting

This reminds me of that episode of the new series of Doctor Who, The Impossible Planet. Scientists were studying a planet that was somehow kept from getting sucked into a black hole that it was next to. To me, it was definitely the best episode covering the nature of deep fears. Oh, and if you starred through the "sun roof" at the black hole for too long, it would drive you insane.

  9. Re:Worth the wait. on StarCraft II Delayed Until 2010 · · Score: 2

Yeah, good things do take time to make, but it takes even longer to ruin things with DRM implementations. Remember what Blizzard has basically said: No more LAN parties. Oh and even if you have your friends over, your game will lag by all of you having to use Battlenet from one connection:(

  10. Single Photons??? on People Emit Visible Light · · Score: 1

I once heard that the human eye can detect a single photon. I wonder how true that is. When I heard that, I thought that there must be some minimum threshold to trigger the optic nerves. Any thoughts about this?

  12. Try ANY behavior... on Study Finds Delinquent Behavior Among Boys Is "Contagious" · · Score: 1

Here's a better headline: Study Finds Behavior Among Boys Is "Contagious". Note the missing descriptor. I've seen any behavior, from good to bad, be contagious among groups of boys, and hey guess what, girls too. Whatever seems "Alpha" "must" be the thing to do. I certainly don't want to be the last kid on the block to do (fill in the blank.)

  18. Ginving back to the LOCAL community... on A Gates Foundation Education Initiative Fizzles · · Score: 1

It's really a shame to see money get wasted when many local public schools in the Seattle area are closing. I for one always wished 'ol Bill would have helped build a better 520 bridge, you know, for the children.

  20. Tickets & Cellphones on Lexus To Start Spamming Car Buyers In Their Cars · · Score: 2, Interesting

Oh great, now we can't even talk back to the person who is not in the car. Makes me think of no cellphone while driving laws. Oh, was that a red light? I can't wait to see hackers hijack those systems and spam owners with taunts about how they chose the wrong car, or better yet, indie music! This will definitely not be the schizophrenic-friendly ride of the year.

  21. Re:New? Captain Eo!!! on NVIDIA Offers 3D Glasses For the Masses · · Score: 1

I totally agree with what you have to say about manufacturers getting together to make this kind of thing really work right. When I was 12, I was completely blown away by Disney's Captain Eo. If you saw it, then you know exactly what I mean. Crisp, dare I say, close to perfect 3D. I was literally reaching out at the end of the movie to touch that furry guy. I'd love to have that experience again. Cheers.
