Cannot lock the drive. The volume is still in use.
"What surprises me is how the market seems to tolerate Apple's premium pricing for mp3 players but not for computers."
Perhaps they dont. Maybe thats why everyone is trying to get a free ipod! and if they already paid good money... well they should sign up for a creditcard so i can get one.
Danger could be presented in this scenario. I am doing work on some computers and reinstall windows 98 on a office machines (say 10 of em) i have a license for each of them. I do have legal keys... somewhere. but instead i choose to get my handy list of known windows keys and install away. Windows (which would never do this) deletes my harddrive or boobytraps my data because these keys are known to be pirated. Yeah, a good admin should use the keys im given and probally do a unattended install to save time if i was so concerned, but doesnt this show some danger with a plan that just assumes its illegit?

"...working from home could spoof their company's telephone number when they need to talk to a customer."
Exactly. I work for a vet, and many times the doctor will call from his home to a client. Now clearly the doctor would not want his home phone number getting out to his clients, and instead of using caller id blocking, a good legit use would be having the number show up as the clinic's phone number.
I just wish spamcop would allow me to report spam without having to confirm them. I dont mind fowarding my 30 spams a day, but then having to click 30 links, along with my increasing spam, it just makes me wonder why i bother.
instead of wasting money on stupid ideas and drm schemes why not just pocket the money and keep it as profit? Sure sue the stupid ones sharing 5000+ songs to remind people that oh yeah, you should buy a cd once and awhile... and leave everyone else alone?
Woah!!! I want to work for you!
because i didnt choose to install spam.
Oh is it? An anacephalic infant is the first thing that comes to mind.
Awesome idea though, I wonder how many batteries a 'gas station' would have to keep on stock.

if users didnt run as administrators all the time, they wouldn't be protected as well?
Not that its exactly hard to disable the 'autorun annoyance'
No one has mentioned how the military would use such a system. Near invisible aircraft perhaps?
uh, yes, it does minimize and the very first station i picked was playing linkin park and incubus right off the bat
