And I don't agree with the firewire- I just bought a 1tb external drive and was happy to see firewire still on it. Also usb 1.1 should have been included- boy was that crap! However for lightness Pelican also sells a smaller waterproof case. I dont have the model number but its new. It doesn't have the large latches on the sides so its not as rugged as a normal pelican case. I would just get a small laptop (macbook) and put it in there. Just try to protect as much as possible when moving- a pelican case will do exactly that.

I tried to simply copy the record's files to my desktop and it just would happen! Then I heard of a way to "rip" the record to my harddrive. It only worked at 1x and it took forever. And the ARM put some weird static on my tracks. I think it watermarked my ripped tracks with noise! The result wasn't nearly as clear as the original. I say a pox on this analog right management and the RIAA!

I think that this is really just a stopgap measure for Apple. Its just not all the way there. Unlike the first ipods- which were great except the small hd space. I see the main problem in the downloads because they are at 320x240. Might look fine on a ipod, but sucks on a computer. AND we still (and possibly never) can easily rip our own videos into itunes. This is really the key- but near impossible. If Jobs convinced MPAA to allow itunes users to rip their DVD's we would still have to reencode them into 320x240 h.264. And on my mac mini this would take probably a day per DVD. A super chore with all the DVD's I own. Probably could take up to a year just to import them. Right now it is obvious, this is just a work in progress for Apple- lets just hope its not another newton.

Anyways this new Itunes 6 seems to update to 7.0.3 (thats what is says on my xp box)- I don't know if it will cause problems. Mac users might want to check www.macfixit.com to see if their programs are affected. For myself I am just going to avoid upgrading- as I need to use MATLAB more than I need to watch Lost!

I guess it will really depend on what energy source that will be invented next. I don't think that hydrogen will ever be a adopted fuel (to cold or too high pressure) for internal combustion. So I think that for cars we will eventually have to go to batteries or fuel cells- which sucks performance wise. As for large transport- trains do have a advantgage in that they don't need to cary their fuel if they are electric. Large fusion plants can supply the power to high speed trains trains. The big problem will come with airplanes- if we ever start running low on oil these contraptions will be to expensive to fly, or require to much space for an alternate fuel. Short term I am hoping the boeing sees the future and begins to fund its Blended Wing Body. A air transport that is truly massive and efficient.

But say I'm waiting for a plane and I know that I'm not going to miss anything for the next 10 min or so. And say I'm hungover. Then the situation calls for "God send death" by slayer. A quick 5 min "ipod nap". Then say I'm waiting for lunch break to finish (or waiting for lunch break to begin) then I might listen to another song. Whatever fits my mood at the second.
