Did not get reboots, or halts. I had it take an inordinate amount of time on the windows loading screen, and then the screen eventually went blank. Only way out was to press reset on the tower.
I went to add/remove programs under safe mode and removed sp3 after several attempts at getting it to run. Rebooting after removing sp3 did not fix login problem. Fortunately I had created a recovery point before installing, so I rolled back to that point (took forever!) and rebooted. Still got the blank login screen. At that point, it was 2am and I said to hell with it and went to bed.
Next morning, powered up machine, same thing, so I tried something stupid. I moved the video cable to the other port on the video card and rebooted. It worked! I don't know why?! The only thing is that I had been struggling with getting the fglrx driver working in kubuntu 8.04 and had moved it a week ago.
Anyhow, system consists of Biostar M7VIK mobo, AMD XP2400 cpu, and ATI X1950pro AGP card, setup dual boot.
In order to study a person as if they were in space without gravity, NASA scientists use head down tilt bed rest. The 115-119 day study will follow the Bed Rest Project standard model and be conducted at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. Participants will live in a special research unit for the entire study and be fed a carefully controlled diet.
During the first 11-15 days of the study participants will be free to move around inside the bed rest facility and do normal things. They will also take part in a number of tests to find out the normal state of their bone, muscle, heart and circulatory system, brain and nervous system, and vestibular (inner ear balance) system as well as their nutritional condition and their ability to fight off infections.
After the first 11-15-day period, participants will spend 90 days lying in bed, (except for limited times for specific tests) with their body slightly tilted downward (head down, feet up). Every day, they will be awake for 16 hours and lights out (asleep) for 8 hours. During the bed rest time they will also take part in a number of tests to find out changes in the state of their bone, muscle, heart and circulatory system, and nervous system, as well as their nutritional condition and their ability to fight off infections.
During the final 14 days of the study (called the recovery period), participants will again be free to move about within the facility. Because of deconditioning that takes place during bed rest, they will slowly begin normal everyday activity. During the recovery period, they will again take part in tests of their bone, muscle, heart and circulatory systems, and nervous systems, as well as their nutritional condition and their ability to fight off infections.
This is what it says if you hit the animation page with linux.. "Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows XP Media Center 2005, Mac OSX 10.3 or Mac OSX 10.4 is required to view this page"
maps.live.com is awesome, especially if you can get an area that uses birds eye view. Super detailed and can get 4 different points of view of what you are looking at. 3d is IE activex only though.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but Google Earth has crashed.
This is a bug in the program, and should never happen under normal

This bug report will be sent to Google automatically next time you run
Google Earth. Its data, which contains no personal information, will help
us correct problems without bothering you further. If you would rather

Which is pretty much my situation. I finally replaced my Radeon 9800pro AGP video card with a Radeon X1950pro. It helped with some things. I can actually run Bioshock now. I still don't have the horsepower to run BF2142 decently though. So I am now looking to get a mobo that supports both PCI-e and AGP, and I'll need a CPU and ddr2 memory as well which is going to cost around $200 at minimum.
$200 is a lot of money so I can play a few games better. I'll end up giving the old stuff to my wife though, which is way more horsepower than she needs.
Probably the video drivers. I know my XP runs quite a bit faster than ubuntu. I can't run you tube videos in full screen in ubuntu without major drops in frame rate. Not only that, I have to restart X when changing users or the radeon gl renderer changes to mesa.
Or you can do like me and have the browser prompt you every time it tries to set a cookie. Depending on what is sent, I can either allow always, allow as session, or block always.I very rarely allow always.
For the past several years, I have been sending in my taxes with the wrong ssn. Some idiot in the social security administration entered a 1 in place of a 7 and caused my taxes to reject when I submit them. Rather than deal with taking 2 hours off of work to correct their fuck-up, I just enter what they are looking for and everything flows.

The Dreamcast ran Windows CE.
And the 9800 pro came out in 2003. I just replaced my 9800 pro with x1950pro, which was a hot card a couple of years ago.
I just give them bogus information. Love throwing a little trash in their database.
