This is downright stupid. The reason that they have so many high efficiency cars is because of the tax incentives and other laws passed in Cali to encourage them. Are they trying to undo what good these laws have done by removing the cost advantage of efficiency? Tax the fucking SUV's some more, see if I care, but leave the people who are part of the solution alone.
Also, a couple of notes on dupes:
We/. addicts obviously read religiously enough to know which articles are dupes, why don't the editors pay just as much attention?
If the/. search engine didn't suck so bad... Seriously, how hard is it to just write a page that redirects searches through google?
You can always make passwords from the initials of long phrases, making them easy to remember for the user, but apparantly random to anyone else. Some examples - this post: ycampftiolpmtetrftubartae, or the pinky and the brain theme song: tpatbtpatboiagtoitlmtghbstdtpatbbbbn.
Here is a hint my boss gave me: when you save some one's ass and they say, "Thank's, you saved my ass! Is there any thing I can do for you?" Say "What do you have?" Best free advice I ever got.
I understand that only one person in several thousand has to reply in order for these scams to be profitable, but really who actually replies? Do any of you antually know any one who has given money to a spammer?
Microsoft bought a company that produces software designed to uninstall malware from it's operating system. Shouldn't Microsoft have enough mastery of it's own OS to do this internally? Sad, sad, sad.
It's been a while since I studied this at university, but as I understand heat changes of this magnatude (also caused by variations in clothing like boxers or breifs) can damage sperm production, but there is no permanent damage. This sounds like som awfully sensational reporting.
Even with ever increasing automation, there will always be jobs. They will just be less of them. Blue collar jobs will consist of service jobs in which cutomers are privare individuals that would be silly to automate, like electritians, and fixing the automatons when they fsck up. White collar jobs will still consist of plenty of management (perhaps with less HR in most sectors), and people to design the automatons. Finally, there will be massive growth in professions which are worthless in the utilitarian sence. These will be jobs in markets that create content and other entertainment, since creativity is the one commadity that cannot be full programmed into a computer.
This is certainly less than ideal. An ideal society would be Plato's republic, only everyone would be philosophers. Sadly, there will always be those (probably a majority) who cannot be pulled from Platos proverbial cave, and they will screw it up for everyone else. Sigh.
Outsourcing may be a major reason for the loss of IT jobs, but I think there are other major factors. As laymen get more technologically aware BOFH type abuses by IT are becoming harder to get away with, and, as a result, IT staffing is shrinking to more reasonable levels. I'm not trying to troll here, but IT in many ways is a solution that creates its own problem in order to create job security, some examples:
Windows vs. Linux or Mac on the desktop:
Don't use Window's and massively decrease workload and nessecarry staffing for IT.
Stick with M$ because saving the company money and incresing efficiency makes me and my department less important.
Choice of servers:
*nix: It Works®
Windows: Shitty performance = more servers and more problems = $$$
If I was a mechanic and I intentionally fsck'ed cars so I could get paid to fix them I could be arrested, and IT is bitching about job security? Fsck off!
I refrigerator keeps things (like food) that do not generate heat cool. If you put a constant heat source (like a computer) in a refrigerator it will heat up the refrigerator much faster than the compressor can cool it. You just invernted the oven.
Of course I would drink it. It's water. On the other hand I would never pay a dollar for a bottle of it, just like I would not pay a dollar for any a bottle of any water. Cut the sensationalism.
If you are suggesting that the players of the game would take on the role of professional sport players the first, and most obvious problem is cooperation. "Teams" would have to meet at regular times for games, and perhaps practices (which would add to realism, but be very boring). Then, players would have to cohesively work together in real time.
Don't murder defenseless animals? Nah, that would be too easy. Seriously though, perhaps you could manufacture some computer safe bleach using Fluorinert to dissolve the chlorine rather than water. Or just find a less filthy business, whatever.
I'm working on a coding project I needed a cheap or free logo for, and I had a friend who was (really) desparate for a new computer. He had GIMP skills and I had a stripped down eMachines box to get arid of. Worked out great.
If a student decides to sit and screw around on the internet during class rather than listen that is their own problem, they have the right to fail. At worst this may be a minor disruption to the class, in which it is always within the prof's disgression to give them the boot. This is college, not high school.
That being said, no mac filtering or proxy solutions are going too be fool proof (or, more accuratly, geek proof). It is easy enough to setup NAT on a laptop to give access to the next room, or spoof your MAC. As I see it, there are two possible solutions that would virtually gaurentee that you accieve what you are trying to accomplish:
Magneticly seal each classroom: difficult, expensive, effective.
Jam 2.4 GHz in classrooms that you don't want access in: Cheaper, but may cause unwanted interference. Leaves 802.11a wide open for repeaters. Questionable legality?
Best of all, both of these solutions have the added benifit of blocking those &*$#!@#%$*% cell phones!
pay $15 "safe harbor"
The mafia would be proud.

does not suit for the professional products to indicate that are using the FreeBSD inside
A lot more bloody professional than a fat penguin.

No kidding. I thought this was an article about the latest Apple super computer
How large of a file could one resonably store in 1984 anyway? (I was born in 1984 so obviosly I wasn't paying attention)

I'd buy 10 connections and still be paying less than I am now. It is so sad that the US cannot keep up with the technology far poorer countries.

Watch this:
So guys, I see you read Slashdot. I saw some really leet gear on this one website you might like.
SHIT! I can already see the lawyers on the horizon!

It's too bad it can't deal with properly formed html.

Take a picture of it so you have somthing to show them. Take it to the Apple Store, and get them to do somthing about it.
Apple says they are sending a box to look at it under warranty, but I don't to have to like send it back 3 times!!
Apple is generally very quick about repairs. Tho one time I had to send in my iBook for repair (I can't remember why) it was back in ~40 hours.linuxiso.org
bsdmall.com
apple.com
...then kiss your security problems goodbye!

Seems we will soon be at risk of being stunned by ionised air generated by laptop sized lasers...
I always wanted a laptop gun! Perfect Dark rocks!
