you do realize just about all of the current US military was designed in the 60's and 70's right?
sure we have gone through upgraded electronics but hardware wise it is the same stuff. The F-15, F16, F18, majority of Tanks, are all 1970's military designs.

Add in some robotic arms to move parts around the factory, and quite literally have a 90% automated factory that can produce any physical object and do it in decent quantity levels.

MSFT is profitable but not diverse. it has two core products, Windows and Office that account for the majority of it's profits. The rest of the company runs between massive losses and break even.

The shuttle launched more people into space cheaper than any other design of space craft since and did it just as safely.(the shuttle sits at 1.5% deaths per people launched the same as soyuz)
Also the choppers that ferried the seal team one of them was lost on scene.
