What I don't understand is...we as humans are all different genetically as human individuals and the same must be true within the animal kingdom. Where does the intra-species DNA difference end and the inter-species one start?
Taxes go to subsidise oil prices. Its a payment no US president will remove because it will be far too unpopular if the price of oil in the US was to match the real market value and be the same as what the rest of the world pays for it.
Futher discussions at various places on the web, including the Post.
So next time theres someone complaining about too much tax ask them to start paying for the real cost of their car and its fuel.
MS can also make items standard part of the OS - with programs not as good, but maybe enough for some people to not go out hunting for other items. Over the years networking that didn't need novell, Internet Explorer and more recently firewall, zip file browsing, GoBack (System restore in XP) and CD burning. Never great but maybe enough for someone to think (or in many consumer cases, without realising there is something better there) that they don't need anything else.
So an innovative third party can enjoy a few years of having something that poeple want to buy, but as soon as MS come up with their version of it (or maybe buy it out) that company is screwed.
Games may be better at teaching certain things than books, but they can never provide the kind of mind expansion that reading a lot of novels can.
For the mind expansion may I recommend special kinds of mushrooms. Then the only books you'll have to read are written by AldousHuxley.
Plus we need to have conversions of things like Pride and Prejudice to make it appeal to more women. Though my girlfriend is really into the Sims to I'm sure they could just come up with a Jane AUsten expansion pack.
If it is the case why are they not asking for the same stickers to be stuck on EVERY textbook? A fair amount of what is accepted as 'scientific fact' for day to day purposes are is still a theory. And not just the natural sciences with its theories of evolution, relativity, black hole formation but also things like economics and geography textbooks need stickers on them
In fact, now I think about it the same sticker should be on English comprehension textbooks - lets face it we don't really know what Shakespeare was trying to portray a misogynist society in The Taming of The Shrew - seems more likely to me that he was out for a cheap laugh.
Much of history is the same.
And obviously, when sticking these stickers on, they need to do the bible at the same time. Something like 'Well the first half of this book is a collection of pan European mythical tales bought together in a nice anthology and the second half was about a dude who was really cool, but we don't like to talk about what he did between ages 18-30 as he may have been being a naughty boy' should be accurate.
Well if the major browsers are starting to implement CSS Positioning (CSS-P) the need for bulky templates should be removed. When I used to use the templates it was just so that the pages could have the same layout, but this was done by using tables extensively, making the HTML messy. As CSS P gets implemented the problem of tables being used to format pages rather than for displaying data should disappear. Then the bits that you want to stay the same on all pages can be contained in their own CSS sections which can just appear at the top of the pages, and the whole thing becomes easier to maintain. I use Maxs Beauty HTML as my WYSIWIG editor over others, mainly because of its multiple file find/replace tool being one thats nice to use.
The problem, as ever, is IE - it doesn't support it properly. Firefox and Opera of course, do.
Finding Nemo and Memento are amonst the gud'uns. Overboard and the Tom'n'Jerry movie are amongst the bad'uns.
The research was done by the National Society for Epilepsy, so its being used as a publicity piece I guess to highlight misconceptions about amnesiacs. Epileptics can suffer from amnesia as part of their condition. This does make it different to the subject story - which I guess is just a bit of speculative fun from people with too much time on their hands.
Well I did start off by looking at the problem, but then decided investigation into making SWF animations using the javaswf2 program that they use on the website seemed like a less taxing thing to do on a Saturday morning.
The problem solving, being more fun, is obviously something to save for the Saturday night;-)

Alan Turning invented the on button....
Yes its the Festival of the Olive out there at the mo.
I don't get that. Why has it been modded funny?
But in spite of a one child per couple policy they still have a higher birth rate!
And it works on many mammalian species!!!

Well I plan to re-cycle +5 modded comments for my own karma!
Mwa ha ha ha ha!!!!
And Reagan did act as a cowboy in some of his movies....

I'd much rather be playing Grand Theft Auto 6 while driving down the freeeway.
Yeah, sorry dude...that was a mistake...just caught up in the creative artistic flow at that point in time!

Well they still have tons of patents as the report shows:
IBM was granted 3,248 patents in 2004, more than any other firm in the US, the New York Times reports.
For each of the past 12 years IBM has been granted more US patents than any other company.
IBM has received 25,772 US patents in that period and reportedly has more than 40,000 current patents.
This is my first column of the new year, which means I have to give my predictions for 2005. We've been doing this for many years now, ...
And next year I hope my year 2005 predictions will be spot on!

Well, coincidentally the BBC have a report about movies which have amnesiacs acting as they are supposed to.

May the farce be with him!
longhorn.....why that'd be a great name for a pr0n site!
Are you using VHS or Betamax?
I'm going with Betamax, its a superior technology, and its *sure* to win out.
Well they at least do that in the UK
Seems a little too long and uncut for my liking
Its what my Jewish girlfriend keeps telling me...
Hopefully the Register, being an excellent IT news service, will provide an answer to that question.
