Its banned in India due to security threats. The police think it can lead to major disruptions. The last flash mob that I heard about was pretty successful with people there for a few minutes. All this ws co ordinated through SMS(text messaging). But the main organiser was called up by the cops the next day and asked not to hold any more of such mobs or there would be arrests.I don't think any one wants to face the prospect of an arrest just for holding flash mobs.
KOffice being good and all, I still find OpenOffice better to use than KOffice. The features that openofice gives are excellent.
For a windows migrator(is that a word?) like me I found OpenOffice the perfect office suite.Maybe its got to do with me like Gnome.:-P
Cheaper does not neccesarily mean affordable. For eg. If it falls from $500 to 400-450 , I still cannot afford it.
Don't we all want lovely 21" LCD's to watch our collection of DivX movies?? or play doom3.:-P
If Google has censored some content,it must be for
a good reason. I don't think google would/could be bullied into censoring something.
All of you guys interested in anti-censorship should check out peacefire
Whatever it might be (as bad as it can get)it definitely is worth $150!! a new age portable gaming console cant come any cheaper.
And the iPod is grossly over priced.
That one big mofo of a demo! 480MB approx! Its gonna be a while till the whole thing downloads on my connection.
I just wanna see if it runs on my Athlon 2800+, 320M ATI card(64mb). Im hoping it will work with loww(est) details. Any of you guys tried it on a 64mb card?? Besides how many levels are there in the demo?
I think the key is, people are losing patience.Everyone wants a faster browser which hangs less and eats less memory.IE fails in both. With every new version its getting slower, takes more memory , has more security flaws.
Whereas FireFox gets more efficient, has all the features that IE has(infact more) and uses much less memory. The browsing experience is smooth and fast.
A lot of people are hesitant to move to FireFox cos they don't know what it has to offer and Windows ships with IE so it naturally captures most of the market. With just the right kind of exposure FireFox will bloom even more.
Dogs are something all theives hate. And let it roam your outside your house in the compund. That thing can scare a tiger away! Im sure getting your balls bitten off might appear scary to most people.:-)
FYI... There are NO Outsourcing centers in the state being spoken about here.Besides it talks about 'rural' areas within that state.
In fact they are considering opening Outsourcing centers in Uttar pradesh which will bring in a lot of revenue for the state and they will HAVE to improve infrastructure in terms of electricity, computing, roads etc.
One big reason for their decline is the usb flash drive. Also their high mortality rate. The other day day i kept my cell phone on a floppy disk(yes my company still has a fewfloppies). The phone rang and the floppy instantly died(rendered useless).Thats just one lovely way to kill a floppy:-).
I introduced my frinds to FireFox for windows and they are absolutely hooked to it! Its lightweight, blocks popups, blocks adware, got everything IE has and is much faster.
Looks like the market share will only increase with the way things are going.Though mozilla would never have lost its market share if Netscape had'nt messed up.It was(is) exactly opposite of what FireFox is.
Here in india , knives are not too popular due to a similar security reason.Anyone found with a blade(knife) which is more than 2 inches can be arrested. Not that anyone checks but you don't wanna be caught with one. What is the size of the main knife blade of the SAK anyway?
In USA are you allowed to keep the knife in your 'checked in' baggage?
I think the key to the success of CounterStrike & Half Life is that these are not Ultra new age , system hogging games. They run on moderately powered PC's as compared to Unreal and other system heavy games.Thats what created the mass apeal as a larger amount of people can play them.If they follow the same principle i think It should do better than the first part.
Its true as most arguments would suggest that if I am losing my job, I don't really care whether the economy booms or dies.I still don't have money to buy food.
But we have to look at all sides of the 3 dimensional picture. You might think that only the big organisations make money or that INDIA gets all the jobs. But from the Macro economics point of view there are other jobs being created concurrently. If someone is losing out there are others(in USA) that are winning. Its how everything works.
All that is besides what outsourcing is doing for the country. After all the country IS earning more money along with the organisations which are outsourcing.
Having a biased point of view just won't work, you might even overlook the other opprtunites that come your view with the pessimistic attitude.
I have shifted to mozilla(firefox) and it really helps with the adware problem.I've had a lot of problems with adware at office(IE) and my pc used to get completely bogged down.
Any users who are completely caught up can give FireFox a try.You can use at as an alternative or temp browser. Its faster and much lighter than IE.And it helps curb adware(to a certain extent).
I think we indians took away a lot of IT jobs maybe thats why a lot of americans are not in IT anymore.Ok that was a JOKE.:-)
But i did expect a lot of people to point out to outsourcing for the drop in IT employment.
In our 'enterprise environment' type company(3000+ users) we only do manual testing. We gather up some real techies and some real non tech people. Its amazing how much better the non techs are at testing and letting you know of various bugs.
They will let you know flaws that you never imagined were possible! All in all nothing beats manual testing. We dont have any dedicated testing staff so we just gather up a few end users.
The Sempron beats the celeron in almost all the benchmarks, so if its priced cheaper than the Celeron or even 5% more I see no reason why anyone should buy a Celeron!
I am a recent AMD convert with a brand new Athlon 2800+ Mobile version. It really does beat Intel hands down.
I just bought an ipaq1945 n it awesome!. It lets you do everything high end pda's do except the WiFi. The 1715 is a bad bargain unless it significantly cheaper besides its got no wireless options and you'd end up paying more putting those extra cards! As for the 6315 I like to keep my phone and PDA seperate, don't know about you guys.
im just a common freebsd user, free86 works fine for me.I guess X.org will to.Are there any major implications for us unknowing users??
I guess thats what most normal users are concerened about.
..If it is.. have the americans used the mexicans as guinea pigs to test out chip implants in humans? There is no mention about the medical safety of any such device.
I mean id never let any such implant come near me.Besides the idea of someone tracking me all the time is SPOOOKY!:-P
Just run a shopping cart and put your old socks onsale! There you have a new online sale system.
Your very own oldsocks.com.Also you can have it eBay types and do some kinda barterlike trading undies for socks...think about it.:-O
Does this mean more free apps for the pocket PC?
on
DotGNU Ported to PocketPC
·
· Score: 3, Interesting
I just bought a new Ipaq which is pocket pc based.I've been trying to find good apps for it but theres hardly anything thats free and good. Most Pocket PC apps come to you with a "relatively" hefty price tag.
So like many others wondering about this, would DotGNU Ported to PocketPC bring more free and good applications for the users?? I think thats the bottomline rather than the C# or C++ issues.
I don't blame IE too much for the amount of security vulnerabilities that crop up.The only reason there are so many of them in IE is that its integrated well with OS.The other browsers do not have that much reach into the OS that they can harm anything.
All we can do is be careful about ActiveX on webpages and run only what we think is safe.Just my view and I don't really love microsoft as it may seem.;-)
Thats a good job to have in the corporate IT world.Just make sure everyone gets credit... and you get paid!
I would say just make sure the guy who pays you gets credit and everything else runs fine.:-)
