>In a reasonable world, you wouldn't have to wait for a new OS release to support a new media format, because the video codecs wouldn't be part of the OS...
hmmm ok, and where would you get a blue laser drive? The *hardware* isn't here yet!
>It seems to me that the traffic of people makng fun of them (baiters) is very high compared to the dumb people falling for the scam
still, just like with spam, getting one sucker to pay would make the whole thing profitable. I'm sure $40000 is a lot of money in Nigeria, more than enough to live for a year.
11 - VCR/TV 13 - plasma displays (mostly with screen burn:/) 15 - projectors, cameras, UPS 16 - huge boxes full of keyboards, modems and other cards, CAT5, 17/18 - Compaq deskotps, in groups of 20 18 - Sat. phone, '96 Chevy truck 19 - Pallets of plastic TRASH RECEPTACLES, sate and federal law books 20 - IBM and Compaq PII and PIII laptops (NO HDD!) 21 - IBM 600 and T21 laptops >22 - couches and other boring stuff 25/27 - SUN and IBM servers 27/28 - Compaq servers
uhh sorry don't have time to go through all of this, maybe someone could continue. just one more random page: 50, Lucent digital phones, SUN servers and Cisco switches
OLED displays can also support much higher (than LCD) refresh rates. Because there is no backlight, when a pixel is black it it really black so the contrast is also much higher. 30 years if of course too much, LCDs dont last that long and about 5 years should be good enough. Keep in mind that they do not die the day they turn 5 y.o., they just lose some of the brightness/contrast.
well when I was buying my V50 phone (about 3 years ago) the guy selling it told me to be careful with it because of its antenna and construction. I was careful with it, maybe the first few weeks. Than I started dropping it onto various surfaces, used the antenna to pull it out of pockets etc. Also once went snowboarding with it in my pocket which got full of snow. Works without problems to this day, just a few scratches on the outside and none on the display. Maybe the new models are more fragile and are, IIRC, made in China but my was made in Germany.
> Linux users are snowboarders. They tend to be younger, out-of-control, risk-takers, they don't really crash as much, and they annoy the skiers (for no good reason, they're just annoying). Teenage boys with eyebrow piercings are snowboarders.
Another poster already mentioned that it's a GeForce 5200 Ultra, but still the results a re somewat strange.
Their test system is an Athlon 64 3200 with Corsair XMS3500 DDR SDRAM. I'll compare their results with this summary (sorry it's in russian, but the numbers should be clear enough). Their system is a p4 3.2Ghz, 2x512 RAM.
TechReport 3DMark scores at 1024x768 Radeon 9550: 2191 GeForce FX 5200 Ultra: 1990 DeltaChrome S4 Pro: 1781
And 3Dnews 3DMark scores, same resoulution: Radeon 9550 XT : 3115 Radeon 9500: 2687 GeForxe FX 5200 (non-ultra): 1294.
They don't have the exect same cards, but this should give the overall idea.
Check this out. It's an OpenGL Build engine port for DN3D (works with Duke it out in DC, Caribbean, Nuclear winter, etc). Seems to support resolutions up to 1280x1024. There's also a high-res texture pack (abot 60 megs) availible as a torrent dl.
The article seems to be somewhat retarded anyway, so I hope nobody minds some OT.
Is it a Chieftec? The case surely looks like Chieftec Dragon. Some details are different though so I'm not sure. I noticed it because I'm a proud owner of a black Matrix case. I must say I'm very pleased with the overall quality and construction: no screws to open the side door, easey to remove the front door and panel, etc. I wouldn't agree that it's ugly, but it is heavy - about 16kg or 35(?) pounds *empty*, and now with 3 dvdrw/cdrw/cdrom drives, a few disk, racks and other stuff is a almost unmovable. Oh yeah it is a full/big tower =)
heh that's nothing. Some of what I get doesn't make sense at all, for example:
From: Melissa Quins Subject: This female movie star passionately kissed her brother on stage and then some Body: >jcouvgtBxqnp{0e| U.S. intelligence personnel ordered military dog handlers at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq to use unmuzzled dogs to frighten and intimidate detainees during [blah blah]

jcouvgtBxqnp{0e|jcouvgtBxqnp{0e| jcouvgtBxqnp{0e| The statements by the dog handlers provide the clearest indication yet that military intelligence personnel were deeply [blah blah, over 2KB pure text]
---------- WTF? What are they trying to sell? Just a mistake? Or maybe it's the Iraqi resistance or something?
Maybe it's too late (1:30AM here) and I can't think, but how a laptop is an alternative to this?
I mean a new laptop costs $1000 or more if you want a 12" or 10" one. Yes, the screen is larger, but sunlight would be a problem. And the unit itself would be larger, as this Zen thing looks like a fat PDA. Also some notebooks have 5h battery life, and we don't know how long can this device work.
Again yes, TiVo might be cheaper, but I wouldn't call it portable.
And finally, if this thing would cost about $400 as somebody said here (no price in the article), how is this more expensive than a 20Gb iPod at $399.99? (ok, one cent?)/. seem to be ready to give away such amounts of money, so if somebody wants to give up some functionality/size/style to get video, it looks like a good thing to get. Except for DRM, but thats another story.
Nope, if the screen is like those on PDA there shouldn't be any problem with sunlight. I've got a PDA and it doesn't really matter: if it is dark, the backlight makes everything clear, if its bright, well you don't need backlight. So if you can read small text I don't think there would be a problem viewing a movie. My personal experience.
Hitachi TRK-8200HR + Fujitsu Stylistic 1200 Color Tablet PC currently running win98 (Debian dual-boot when complete) with MediaCar as the default mp3 interface, designing a custom skin for the 480x640 portrait display currently 2g hdd, increasing to upwards of 20g pcmcia LAN, upgrading to WiFi internal webcam 4 USB (when completed) custom wallpaper to keep original aesthetics
the powersupply for the tablet is internal, and wired into the outlet on the boombox, so you only have to plug in the standard AC wire for both units to get power. the tablet also has a battery for complete portablity.
functional as both PC and boombox. radio works, but the indicator had to be removed. the built-in mics will feed into the tablet, along with line-in and possibly radio so i can record radio to the harddrive, if i ever wanted to. the line-out of the tablet goes to the line-in of the boombox. the headphone jack on the boombox is unchanged, and the amplified external speaker jacks on the boombox had to be removed to make room for the power switch, standby and restart switches.
not sure if i'm gonna upgrade the speakers right away. most of what's left is building in the 4 USB ports, some bondoing, and repainting, most likely in shades of silver and grey.
That's nothing! I've got Windows XP running on PII 350 (Intel SE-440BX2 mb, 384 RAM (max. 768), GF2 MX) - reasonably fast, my friend was surprised when he saw how responsive it was. Also got win98 installed on a 70mhz 486, but it was unusable because I only have a 220MB disk, so there was no space left for programs/documents, but otherwise was quite fast.

and just a few years later your [sorry I'm not American] country cared more about another country with a large star in its flag.
Wasn't that the point of starting the fight? =)
