Chinese market it makes a lot of sense, it looks really cool, and it was a neat idea from Nintendo's perspective. But for the rest of the world, I can't understand why people would want one.
Yeah, really dumb move making a product for only 1/4th of the world's population.
'd specifically like to see cell-phones jammed in movie theaters, and schools.
And what are you going to do for the people who live near movie theaters and schools? Jamming is done by electromagnetic waves that propagate in a sphere, but we humans have a tendency to build structures as rectangular solids. There is a boundary problem here, you can either not jam the whole the whole school, or jam the school and the surrounding houses.
Yeah, but last time I checked in, there is no decent way to search freenet for information. Makes the whole thing pretty usless. It's like a library without any order to it, sure there may be great stuff in there, but it's not worth your time trying to find it.

I've had an interesting experience with credit cards that's sort of related. In high school I got a $200 limit credit card. Never missed a payment. Fast forward two years and I miss my first payment. Three days later they increased my limit to $500. Odd, I thought, but I wrote it off as a strange coincidence. A year or so later I missed another payment, and within the week, I got a letter saying that my new limit was $1,000.
Right now in London the British Science Museum is has a LOTR exhibit full of all the stuff from the movies. Trust me, this could be a permanent show, and people would keep coming for many, many years. But it's only here until Jan. After that, I hear it's moving to Boston for a few months.
Is this the beginning of a trend where companies recognize that the quality offered by relocation to cheaper centers around the world doesn't result in customer appreciation and better quality?
I am distressed to find that some women friends (fortunately not many) treat the use of the impersonal masculine pronoun as if it showed intention to exclude them. If there were any excluding to be done (happily there is not) I think I would sooner exclude men, but when I once tentatively tried referring to my abstract reader as "she", a feminist denounced me for patronizing condescension: I ought to say "he-or-she", and "his-or-her". That is easy to do if you do not care about language, but then if you do not care about language you do not deserve readers of either sex. Here, I have returned to the normal conventions of English pronouns. I may refer to the "reader" as "he", but I no more think of my readers as specifically male than a French speaker thinks of a table as female. As a matter of fact I believe I do, more often than not, think of my readers as female, but that is my personal affair and I'd hate to think that such considerations impinged on how I use my native language
I was in the London protests against Bush last week, and it's stuff like this that makes me glad I picked the 'Shamed by your stance on civil liberties' poster.
Depressing dystopian future? Sounds like someone needs a soma holliday!
So, when there is a flash flood, or a tornado where ever it is you live I don't have to pay for it right?
Jeez, I have no problem helping you when you need it, I don't see why you wouldn't help me when I need it.

Will all the displaced workers sing 'me and my buddy' about the robots?
It protect the voter against mistakes.
Like voting for Bush?
$10 bank error in my favor?

Practice atheism or a minority religion?
And what is it that an atheist practices? Are they the same rituals as the aunicornists?

If you want free health care go live in Europe, but don't whine about the 60% income tax.
That's just what I did : P
Call me crazy, but I think that everyone should have access to universal health care.
But I like the 'i' ending.

Personally, I've gotten very good at filtering advertising...
And by filtering I'm sure you mean 'I watched the above movies but couldn't tell you what they were ads for'.
Lack of a decent work ethic is a major problem today.
How about lack of decent work?
Edna Krabappoly
Holy completely arbitrary Batman!
Do have a list of them? Or know where one can be found?
This is all speculation until such a suit is filed, though.
But it's lots of ad banners for slashdot now. : )
How many would-be Tolkiens/Einsteins did we lose to war without knowing?
How many Hitlers?
Is this the beginning of a trend where companies recognize that the quality offered by relocation to cheaper centers around the world doesn't result in customer appreciation and better quality?
Nope.

Wow, bonus points for knowing to write 'lego' not 'legos'

Here is an article I wrote about the experience for those interested.
So much colorful input, so much gray output.
