If you are tired of all the serious 'TOP' lists that show up towards the end of every december, Jivemagazine.com has done a fun year end awards for the last couple of years here called Toon's 2nd Annual Random Awards.
I particularly liked the award Shadow of the Colossus got.
Honestly, playing a videogame that involves sexual content DOES NOT HELP YOU GET LAID. If that were true, I'd probably be...... Maybe I should just stop there..
Screw the/. effect... With the rate that Zonk is posting these articles, none of the sites will have the opportunity to be crushed with the traffic. We should call it the Zonk effect; articles showing up so fast on the main page that YOU, can't keep up before they roll off the bottom.
In his defense against the above posting about Microsoft paying for the exposure. Of the 7 articles posted today, only 3 are about the 360. For a day that the first reviews of the system, LIVE and games are being posted, I think that is a pretty modest number.
One short-tempered clerk at a Gamestop in New York estimated that Xbox 360 units will not be available for walk-in customers until April
I've had folks at GameStop tell me that the PS3 might still make s "surprise" arrival by the end of this year. I am certain they all have their finger on the pulse of gaming.....
As far as I can guess, the only way that WindowsMobile will be supplanted by a true Windows kernaled OS is if it functions with an 'Instant On". I wouldn't own a Windows handheld if it didn't
I often wonder which, in 5 years, will be the more practical tablet type of solution. Will devices like this continue to evolve into that elusive "paper notebook replacement" or will Windows Mobile devices expand in functionality? The part that really seems odd is that, if Microsoft keeps developing both XPTablet and WindowsMobile, won't they begin completing with themselves for usage?
Gaming awards are an idea whose time has more than come, however the last two iterations of this show have been pretty bad. Too much focus on things other than games (skateboarding, etc.) and a pretty pitiful production quality have made me skeptical. Lets see how this goes..
I will be very glad when photorealism is actually EASILY possible in games. Then, maybe game companies will stop dedicating all of their resources to making their games 'pretty.'
One of the problems that I can see on the horizon is that games will get ALMOST perfect photorealism and start causing nausea when playing. When the brain starts to believe that what it is seeing is real but has problems with certain aspects, angles, reflections or refresh rates, motion sickness like symptoms start to occur. Couple this with larger monitors and TVs that completely occupy your FOV, denying your sense of real world perspective and it gets interesting. Half-Life2 seems to be one of the first mainstream games inwhich this might be starting to occur; the hovercraft level seemed to be particularly troublesome for many.
This is exactly what EA wanted. In their minds, instead of having to fire the workers who brought this hell upon them, the lack of benefits and job satisfaction will make them quit on their own. This will leave the workers who don't mind being abused as the staff. The job market is FULL of people who would love to work on any games, even if it means spending their lives at work. They will just replace the "whiners" with the "suckers" and move on.
I am becoming more and more worried about the big N. They are falling into the same hole that they started digging around the time the 'cube was released; the only truly innovative games (Warioware, Kirby, Nintendogs, etc.) are only being released by Nintendo. The GBA and its predecessors were vastly supported by many third parties. The gamecube hasn't been and it appears that the DS might now have the same problem. With the mystical controller of the Revolution I am concerned that any special features on it will only be supported 1st party.
Yes, the lower model is a colossal mistake, talk about segmenting your user population. The only mitigating factor is that I can't figure out why ANYONE would buy the cheap version for $100 less. Wireless controller is $10 more, Component HDAV cable is $40 more, headset $20 more, Hard drive $100 more = $170 diff + no premium (good) games and no xbox1 games.
Simple answer as to why someone would chose Nintendo's offering over the others, they like the exclusive games the Gamecube has. I don't own a Gamecube box, but have seriously considered buying one JUST TO PLAY MARIOKART WITH MY WIFE.
If you want a much better (and funnier) view on where gaming has been and is going, read JiveMagazine.com's interview with Penny-Arcade's Gabe and Tycho. The
author of the Jive article doesn't keep referring to himself in the third person. Max Steele reminds me of the Simpsons where Homer changed his name to Max Power because
it sounded cooler.
I apologize for my mistake. I must have been hallucinating. Either way, stay out of my dreams.....

Morpheus is Dead
·
· Score: 4, Interesting
Neo died at the end of the third movie, so that one is not surprising. As far as killing off Morpheus goes, I think it is a great idea. If they had maintained the status quo, it would have just been The Matrix Revolutions Continues. This insures that it will stay somewhat fresh and start its OWN STORYLINE
Part of the original plan for TMO was to keep the story going with actors and writers moving the overhead of the game. I hope this works.
Although I don't play this game (or any other MMOs for that matter) I have a feeling that Morpheus will be back.
It is fair to compare the media types. You are paying for a portion of the content in TV, Radio and Movies. Part of the newest "microcontent" ideas is to get you started playing the game and then give you the option to play the "Black Knight Conflict" scenario for an additional $4.99.
-Around 18 minutes out of every hour of radio is spent on commercials
-The average hourlong TV show only truly breaks 40 minutes of content (I know, I TiVo through the commercials)
-Movies innundate you with ads slideshowing prior to the ads for future movies. Those ads now lead you into movies with an incredible amount of product placement ads.
-Video games give advertisers a unique opportunity to let people actually buy the product when the advertisement is fresh in their minds. It is the logical conclusion to the cycle, and it is only going to get worse.
This will make the MMO MORE like real life than others, if what you describe is true. There are certain areas of each city that you do not venture into. Be it for violence, drugs, etc. this creates the first true MMORPG ghetto.
It is a problem for Blizzard. When you can actually tie system uptime to a player's real life finances, it causes a problem. Since I don't play the game I am going to use a hypothetical situation. If a player pays $500 for a large amount of in game gold and the servers run into problems (not uncommon these days from what I hear) and they have to roll the characters back to the point just before the gold was given and after they paid for it, they will be out of luck. While the player may not have a legal leg to stand on, they can make problems for Blizzard both legally and in terms of public relations.
On top of all that, since the system is being used to generate the gold that people are selling, would blizzard be required to file any REAL financial documents? This is different from eBay where people list items bought or created somewhere else, these sold items are created in game.
Hmm, Sony not being accurate with their predications.... Thats Odd..
Did he happen to mention if it will be able to render Toy Story in real time??
Was the site up before and just got crushed (and exceeded what the ISP allows in bandwidth) because every news site out there is linking to it?

That was my point...
What I am confused about is, although those booth babes are being horribly mistreated and exploited, I haven't heard one of them complain.....
I wonder why that is.....
10 new articles in the past 24 hours, PRE-E3! Is there that much new news, or are the mods just accepting more marginal stories (such as this one)
Except when you roll your ball of Katamari stuff over a McDonald's sign, past the giant Taco Bell, down Chevrolet Blvd.
