  1. LOL VISTA is crap on Corporate America Not Ready For Vista · · Score: 1, Interesting

The very LARGE corporation I work for is still running more than 20K windows 2000 machines. We've found ZERO reason to upgrade to XP much less to consider Vista. The ONLY upgrades we've done is 2003 server on certain backend machines that can take advantage of the 64 bit architechture. For business XP and Vista are USELESS expenditures that provide nearly ZERO return for the dollar, while increasing operating costs by more than 20%.

MSDOS and windows are great examples of TIMING, IBM would have put out the PC with somthing on it on the same time frame or very shortly after. Gates had the savvy to recognize the opportunity as it arrived, and make a running jump on it. OS/2 did windows BETTER than windows did windows, IBM was just incredibly short sighted in trying to control the market via hardware, and then tried to lock OS2 on to their hardware as well...

Digital's ALPHA running any number of OS's was a superior solution as well but they did not see any future in 'desktop' machines, and paid the price as well...

Hmmm I play and have played PnP RPG on a regular basis for 15 years in a group that has 10 members and a waiting list. We play World of Darkness, and a Fantasy game using the Gurps 3rd and some 4th ed rules. I've also played almost every mmorpg in creation, from the world of Norrath (EQ's mother) to DAoC,CoH/CoV,FFO,NWN, EQ2 and WoW, they are fun but they are NOT to be confused with RPing. True RPing is most akin to acting without a script and requires the kind of interaction not yet possible via the net even with voip software. The GM has to be able to respond to a total 180 degree plot twist on the fly and software does not yet exist that can support that kind of flexibility...SIGH someday in my lifetime I hope ;D-
