So, why would I dislike speculators? Perhaps because "make a quick buck" conflicts with my personal work ethic. Or maybe it's because I associate it with the likes of Spam. Both are extremely annoying and a waste of time. If you found something annoying, you wouldn't like it, would you?

It may have just been that I wasn't doing something correctly even though I tried to copy the example code as closely as possible.
There seem's to be an odd belief that weapons like knives and blunt instruments just aren't dangerous. Well they are. A person can quickly cross ten or twenty feet and strike you with their weapon.
