There was a JOKE back there, that you both must have missed.
My point was (if there was a serious one to be made), that the original poster of the question asked Slashdot what to do. And mentioned that the old guy in question was basically "mad at the young-uns" for just generally being around, I guess. So I figured that they (the poster, and friends) MUST be young adults, or they would handle the problem in a more mature way. Like:
1. Asking the guy to remove it. 2. Shooting it out. 3. Getting another police officer's opinion.
The fact they couldn't get a cop to listen to their story is what made me think the OP was young. So I (JOKINGLY) suggested an alternative for a younger person to try. Like I said, us adults would go a different route, true.
Just a misunderstanding. And admittedly a bad joke, apparently.
Lesson learned. I won't be trying that again for awhile.
Just have your parents all complain to the Mayor/Council at the next City Council meeting. Have them all explain they would love to come out and vote, but the noise outside drives them crazy, so they'll probably have to stay inside on election day.
FFXI will never end, seemingly. I used to think it would top out at a LV75 character. But now they keep expanding with new areas, and quests. And the whole "merit point" business. I couldn't keep up the playtime schedule required, so I gave up. I guess IT beat ME. Looking forward to FFXII
FFX... I just realized I never finished that. I wonder what distracted me. MGS3: Snake Eater, maybe?
I like newer games on my consoles, but I prefer older clasic games on my portable (GBA).
I know 'Jade' is what is most commonly identified with the game now. But is that a good thing?
When I think of BG&E, I always wonder how that game would have done, if the main protagonist had been male, instead of female. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think many casual gamers thought the game would be too "cutesy", if they had to play a RPG with a female lead, for hours on end. She didn't look like Laura Croft, she looked like one of those Girly TV cartoon characters you see on some Saturday morning shows.
The gameplay would have been outstanding either way, but I bet the game would have done better if they had a male lead. I loved FFX, but I didn't buy FFX-2. I like RPGs, but I couldn't see myself buying one with a female lead character, for some reason.
I don't necessarily think that there are no new ideas out there. I meant, that there are by and large, mostly rehashes of old themes, compared to the relatively few number of innovative pictures these days.
Interesting that you mentioned 3 of the films that have my interest: Scanner Darkly, Illusionist, and Inland Empire will all be a must-see, for me.
There's new stuff out there, but in my opinion it's (sadly) few and far between.
Seriously, though. I think the constant deluge of remake-after-remake of classic TV series and older movies has killed my interest in going to the movie theater. Why go out, when I can pull 1/2 of the "new" movies off my own DVD rack, or watch the original on late-night TV.
But I guess someone is watching these rehashes, because Hollywood keeps making them.
Your attention, please! A newsflash has this moment arrived from the WalMart front. In honor of the massive overfulfillment of the ninth three-year plan... it's been announced that the NASCAR T-Shirt ration is to be increased to 3 per month!
I guess I'm confused about how the TiVo units work, but I don't understand how they even plan to measure who is fast-forwarding/skipping commercials? How will they track this? Does the TiVo actually phone home with your logs of what you record/skip/rewind from the DVR? How would they filter between skipping commercials, and skipping crappy programming? Wouldn't it all look the same to TiVo?
Why would us bloggers want to be bothered with researching topics, and doing meaningful, in-depth news on various topics, when there's so much reader demand for things like:
1. Why we hate work so much. 2. Who we like and don't like, in Hollywood. 3. What we did over the weekend. 4. Where we went on vacation. (Hollywood?) 5. When will we have the vacation pictures posted? (I mean, it's been 2 DAYS, now!)
Just hang onto it, and let the glut of eBay people dumping their copy get out of the way. Yours has the original content on it, and the passage of time won't change that. It's a collector's item, really. I'm keeping mine, but if you want to sell it, just be patient, and it will probably only go up in value, in time.
1. Don't use a landline phone while it's storming outside. 2. Don't use a cellular phone while it's storming outside. 3. Don't carry large metal objects, outside. 4. Don't carry large metal objects, inside your home. 5. Maybe just throw away all metal objects you own. 6. Avoid standing next to other people's tall, metal, objects. 7. Don't stand in pools of water. 8. Better yet, just never get wet at all. Stay completely dry. 9. Don't go outside. Ever. 10. Order all your supplies, groceries, etc. from the saftey* of your home computer!

"Some of us have a spine..."
This coming from someone posting as Anonymous Coward?

Problem solved.

So... the new $600 PS3 will play my favorite games, AND make a plate of crispy delicious bacon?
SOLD!
Seriously, I don't care what it looks like on the outside. It's what's on the inside that counts. My wife hates all my "ugly" consoles, anyways.

Just my $0.02
Several people here have tried car waxes (including me).
You might have your comment threshold set too high, but I've seen several comments on Turtle Wax, etc on this page.
Real software manages to find 2 million people gullible enough to download it.
Every day, though? That seems to be a high estimate, considering their bad press.
Because it's August. And there is no real news in August. Thus, Wikipedia editing articles on ?., Hollywood-actor-gets-drunk stores on TV.
The end of the summer is always the thin time, for news departments.
Ethan could always start his own expo, like Tycho and Gabe.
Maybe even... ACROSS THE STREET!

Same here.
No calculator was executed, but my Firefox footprint shot through the roof.
Wait until MGS4.
That game scares me, with all the trailers with Snake holding a damn pistol in his mouth.
DON'T DO IT, SNAKE!
That came as close as anything ever would. Very emotional ending (showdown with The Boss).

Re: /. front page...
Right below the "Colorado Sheriffs To WarDrive For Safety" story, is the "NH Man Arrested for Videotaping Police" story.
So it's OK for police to wardrive in your neighborhood, but it's not OK for you to videotape them while they do it?

He is the 2nd link for me, when I just checked. ;-)
That's gotta be a joke, right? Yeah, that's it. A joke.
