In the name of saving the bind sea turtle, all travel in the Arctic ahould be banned and any knowledge that was gained from past explorations should be forgotten.
Darpa with a new Internet for more control, more MATRIX states. I am starting to get scared. I am Canadian and the only hope we have is that the US has freedom of expression that we can emulate. Please rise up and fight this demon that justifies itself with the "think of the children argument". The end does not justify the means.
This is the Army, do you really think you are even going to know what abuses are used. Tin foil hat time for the internet crowd. Think of telling your kids about the old "Internet V.1.0 where you could say and do what you want without the fear of having your door knocked down because you don't agree with the ruling party. I am sure that I would be considered an "undesirable" as would most people unfortunately.
Can somebody try to tell these guys it's a little too late to put the genie back in the bottle. We can't change SMTP to stop spam and they want to change the whole TCP/IP thing. Good luck changing it in the next 30 years.
I am still astounded at the pictures that are sent back from Mars. I think the world is a little jaded at the monumentous task that was accomplished with this mission. This is historic stuff that should be in the press every day! If landing on the moon was big this should be justa as big if not bigger!!!
I'm not sure but it appears to be just a trick of the light. The close rock seems to have the same effect. It would be good to have a professional opinion on this. Although if it wasn't mentioned in any articles it could just be an optical illusion - it appears to be the only big rock in the distance.
My biggest problem is the fact that they got caught. I am not naive enough to know that the gov. employees are not taking kickbacks. I feel cheated in that these people are not smart enough to not get caught. This not only shows the corruption but the stupidity.
I don't think that will work. You will end up having to hit that stupid "charge sender" button repeatedly, the same way you delete spam now. Also what makes you think you will get a dime from a spammer, how would he pay without havng a Big Brother approach to all email?
I wish I had a good idea instead of just shooting your idea down. I would love to see you come up with a way to make that work though.
I don't know about the first 3 predictions but the fourth has pretty good odds of coming true. Considering the strike slated for next year and the desire for canadians to watch hockey with or without the ridiculous salaries.
I understand your point exactly. I consider myself a capitalist through and through. However there is still a social responsibility that goes with everything. I don't make money selling poison to children no matter how much cash flow there is (not a good example but you get my point). I believe that if you created a business model from a product that was free on the backs of developers that toiled for the benefit of all, you should turn your back on them at the first opportunity. You can be a capitalist and still have morals. I don't want my children growing up in a place where people will destroy each other for immediate greed. I see this as the result of short term profits (read quarterly reports) as opposed to long term financial gain. I am going to be here for a while and I prefer my customers to be here for a while too.
This is an interesting take on the situation. Although I have to be a realist and say that he is as slimy as Darl. There is no moral compass in corporate America today. Is it impossible to have a public company and still sleep at night?
Any time SCO comes up for discussion, I have noticed the subtle jibes at Linux usually by AC's. There is nothing wrong with educated discussion but I have a great fear the the FUD is creeping into/. - beware of anybody that posts AC to this forum. If you are afraid to state at least your/. name, then don't post. I have already put AC's at -6.
"Also Judge Wells asks that IBM turn over any nonpublic contributions to Linux that it may have made. "
Not sure what is meant or implied. Any help in translation? Not being funny, just trying to find out what this means.
Who gets the funds to study these projects? I want a grant to study something like this. I can probably come up with a hypothesis like, hmmm, do strippers like drunks or sober people more. Wheres's my money !!!

This may be able to construct a house in one day, but I can't see getting this gadget set up in that time. This thing is huge!
Let's not get all worked up yet, it's just an idea some wacky russian had.
the last paragraph of the article is interesting in which they say the government is going to start using hacker tools also _ don"t they already?
It's not like there are more then 20 to 30 downloads of french music anyway? Go ahead Apple give them their ten bucks and be done with it. :>
Apparently not that good.

Has /. become a place where the geeks talk law?
Sorry - forgot to mention that :)
