    There are miracles claimed in every religion. And, in the written accounts, the "detractors" were there. You seem to be hung up on Christianity (and, judging by your posts, an incredibly narrow form of Christianity at that). Has it never occurred to you that some other religion could be true?

    I'd suggest you read Kuhn's Structure of Scientific Revolutions to see that science appears to work very differently than you (and many others) think. Scientist tend to prevent any substantial change in their paradigm as long as possible---for example by "tweaking" theories or devising auxiliary hypotheses.

    And I'd suggest that you do actual science to see that Kuhn didn't have a fucking clue what he was talking about. "Structure of Scientific Revolutions" is a fascinating book when you are a freshman in college and haven't really learned anything yet. But later, after you have your doctorate and have been doing actual research, you realize that it is a useless pile of shit.

    It is pretty bad. What about people that are dangerous but not sexually dangerous? It seems that the law puts higher precedence on sexual crime versus general physical crime. If someone has proven to be a violent offender in general they should be deemed dangerous and left in prison to protect society.

    That's because, in America, sex = bad, violence = groovy, baby!

    Why else do you think we talk about Janet Jackson's nipple showing being "immoral" while we're blowing the fuck out of innocent civilians?

    Or, to put it another way, would you equate the Japanese school system's denial of the Nanjing Massacre as simply being "pro-Japanese"? What if German schools decided to ignore or even deny the Holocaust? Would you say they are just being "pro-German"?

    It's important to know the history of your country, including all the ugly bits.

    What do we gain from manned space flight that we wouldn't gain, in a far cheaper way, from unmanned missions?

    Just off the top of my head - medical advances based on the requirements for sending humans through space for a prolonged period of time. There are plenty of other spin-offs from the space program. I really shouldn't have to go into them to satisfy the willfully ignorant.
