Very nice post. I think it's true that Big Business runs the world right now, and a software union is needed. Free Software Union or somthing. I've often wondered why software devlopers have no union. (I'm still in school, years away from such things) Something more formally organized then the slashdot community, a true union of all coders who think that not every little snippet of code can be universally patented. Specific code can be, I concede, but the concept of something is open.

Yeah, but proof of concept viruses are not all that hard to add payloads too. I laugh at all you mac groupies, thinking you don't have to worry about security because "there aren't mac viruses." Even the super-god-like-BSD people have to deal with security once in a while. With all the nerds sending their famalies to macs to keep them safe from viruses, it's only a matter of time before your inbox is clogged with "OSX 10.4 upgrade attached open now" emails along with all the other junk. No OS is perfectly safe out of the box, not even your obsecure OSX. Welcome to patching. Get used to it, or all your Oddly-shapen boxes will are belong to us. Why don't use linux instead, that's still safe. Just shut off SSH and you'll be fine.

  14. Neither of them are real good on Real Problems · · Score: 1

I've used a wide variety of windows streaming things, Windows Media Player, Real, Quicktime, MPEG through winamp, and I have to say I hate Real the most out of all of them. The player is filled with ads, it tries to load at startup even when you tell it not to, and the quality isn't that good. WMP is alright, but I hate to tie a stream down to one OS. I'd recommend a nice stream through the old mp3 codec. Every OS can read it, you can choose your player, and everyone is happy, except the big companies, and no one cares about their profits.

They have done that forever. It works because they change just enough in each sequal to keep it interesting, while keeping the original charm. Most people played the SMB series entire on NES, and many people, myself included, think that SMB3 was better then the original, and much better than SMB2. As long as enough changes between games to make it more then a new set of levels, it works wonders.
