If you have any discs that display the CDDA logo and they have DRM or any 'enhancements' for our computer, the maker of that disc is in violation of the rules that Phillips set forth in specifying the format. You should immediately notify them of the breach of contract between the music company that made the discs and Phillips. And you should probably go ahead and lawyer up, because once you stir up the snake nest they're gonna come crawling and biting at your ankles.
You may not have to, since Philips, to their credit, has been quite adamant that they'd be very aggressive about logo violations.
My grandmother is going into assisted living this week, and up until now, I've had to nag her twice a day to take her pills. They'll administer her meds, but it's $21/day.
You argue that a game is not creative (and I disagree), so I point out that the broadcast of that game is creative, regardless of the status of the game itself. The commentary, the camera angles, the graphics, the production are all creative inputs. Just because it's functional doesn't mean it's not creative. Are you actually arguing that there is NO creative content in a sports broadcast?
That reminds me of Theo and the OpenBSD ISOs, where the contents are (obviously) BSD-licensed, but the layout can be copyrighted.
Please tell us all how you would make air travel safe and convenient.
It WAS safe and convenient. Now it's no safer, and something less than convenient. You think selling $3 bottles of water on the other side of security is preventing terrorism?
Maybe he should be filing a lawsuit against *you* if he's determined that termites are an option over your cooking.:-P Besides, they're a great source of protein. If he wants to sleep inside a dead camel, on the other hand, you might have some problems.
Perfectly timed indeed. I was lying in bed this morning thinking about some early stuff I'd written that (of course) took on a life of its own and grew into a hoary mess. As I was composing an "ask/." in my head, I stumbled across this. Looks like a nice one to have while I'm in the woods for the next six weeks.
You're also using NFS? I tried it over samba, and there was some weird thing where it didn't pick up any of the tracks. Haven't checked that in a while, so I don't know if it's been "fixed" or the problem lies elsewhere (feature not bug). How easy is the MySQL conversion? My ripped collection's at ~20,000 tracks right now, but I've only done about 1/3rd the CDs, so it's only going to get worse. These last couple of versions seem slower too, but that's a purely subjective observation.
Jesus./. drives me nuts sometimes. Everybody wants an iPhone for 99 cents, with 10,000 free minutes a month, unlimited texting, unlimited bandwidth, and a personalized letter from Steve Jobs thanking them for making a difference in the world. How the fuck is any of this unfair? There are other phones. There are other PDAs. Want a competitive market? Get Samsung to make a hot phone, and hook it up to another network. Talking about how you don't have a choice is truly idiotic.
Huh? For a moment I wondered how that occurred to you, but on the other hand I don't really want to know...

Are you a grammar Nazi? I'm trying to improve my English; please correct my errors!:)
Yeah, for this case I think you'd use "...but in the other hand..."
Some of them are bill collectors. Who want someone that isn't here, and don't seem to want to believe that no, that person isn't here, and isn't going to be, so stop calling me. But either way, if they can't identify themselves, they shouldn't be calling my damn number. Which is why I disagree with #4 on your list.
This is what I'm running into now. I just got my first cellphone (I know, I know), and apparently the person who had this number before is skipping out on some bills. Problem is, I got one of the Virgin 18c/min deals, so it costs me every time I answer. They're just happy to keep calling back over and over, but it's pissing me off.
FIVE! Five glowing cores! AH AH AH AH AHHHHHH!
"Do or do not. There is no try."
And that precedent is from a LONG time ago (although in a galaxy far, far away).
Yup, still funny.

Because Sony picked Blu-Ray.
And do you think AT&T is stupid enough to take inventory of 700,000 phones at once?
Having been on the phone with AT&T for the last four hours, yes, yes I do.
And that's why the rest of us wait for format wars to end.
The sheer width of a 24 incher is already past my comfort point.
Talk about opening yourself up for a goatse joke...

Are you serious? 2 seconds searching brings up something like this.
Are we seriously going to accept every and all Laws that appear in fiction?
I am, yes. I'd explain more, but now I have to transport up to the heliport; my flying car awaits.
Oh, you've found that too?

^^^^^^^^^^^^ I am Jack's Slashdot account.
Trust Slashdot to have a post on masturbation in a story about lasers. I guess it's better than all the people wetting their pants...
Hey, what are you doing later? I get off work at 5...

I don't know the "real" origin, but I first heard it in Bugs Bunny cartoons...

Here's a choice: DON'T BUY IT.
