So all we need to do is outlaw guns in all states and there will be no more of them! I'm sure nobody would think of smuggling or producing illegal firearms.
And your point is? Abraham Lincoln didn't have electricity, running water, or even a dry floor in his classroom. Maybe we should go back to holding class in the middle of a field somewhere. People who achieve great things do not always start out with the absolute best opportunities, but is this a reason to stop trying to provide opportunities to kids?
I didn't see anything in this law that requires ISPs to deliver any mail. If the owner of a mail server wants to block any email coming from someone who's first name is Andy, they are free to do so, its their server. This law certainly won't help things much, but I really don't see how it will make anything worse.
The Gallery kicks ass. It was a little tedious to set up on my hosting provider's server (the creators seem to think everyone has root access to the server), but once its configured, using it couldn't be easier. Great for my semi-computer-illiterate family to post pictures with.
And an NDA does not mean much when you're dealing with a foreign outsourcing shop. Would you want to have to go to court in a foreign country to enforce it? I wouldn't bet on you receiving a fair trial in most cases.
If you are in a public place, you can be videotaped by anyone, as you have no reasonable expectation of privacy. If someone wants to videotape police actions but are worried about a tape being confiscated, they should have the VCR seperate from the camera, connected wirelessly. Then they would still have the tape, showing the camera being smashed. News reporters would eat that up.
I'm sure some spammer will find a way to project advertisements in random public spaces. Maybe over top of existing billboards, or on building walls. Set up a group of pointers, advertising some website or phone number, and by the time somebody takes it down, many people have already seen it.
Since their entire website is written by a marketriod (UltraSecure mode), to be read by paraniod school administrators, you can bet this software is all hype, no substance. It will be cracked 10 minutes after a school announces it will be used. They may have some success running it securily in a supervised computer lab, but if students are expected to install it on their home computers or in an open lab, good luck.
I'm assuming your first phone was a car mounted phone or perhaps one of those 'bag phones'. Bulky as they were, they were well built and probably could last 10 years. And they usually had great sound quality. Too bad nobody makes a hand held with that kind of quality (not that I've seen anyway).
Some people argue that open office spaces enable 'free flowing communication'. This is not a good thing, as it can be very distracting. If you can't be bothered to send someone an email, call them, or get up and walk 75 feet to see them, then what you were going to say was probably unimportant anyway.
This makes a lot of sense for consulting/sales people who are rarely in the office, but none at all for people who are there every day. When you come in every other week, its not a big deal to lug around a few things or to spend 10 minutes getting your stuff set up for the day, but if you have to do this every day, it hampers productivity, not to mention morale. Bottom line, managers need to make the best decision for their particular office, and not just follow the latest PHB trends.
Regarding the Wal-Mart model: This only works on people who are only concerned about getting things for the lowest price possible. They will inevitably have poor quality and service. But there are people who buy their clothes at Neiman Marcus and pay more than they would at Wal-Mart, and these are the same people willing to pay more for high quality cell phone service. Good service will certainly be available, but as always, you will get what you pay for.
I couldn't agree more. How many people actually get a cell phone to last more than a couple of years anyway? My longest lasting phone was about 3 years, and I am not especially hard on a phone nor do I use it constantly.
A team of 5 interesting, friendly people will ALWAYS outperform a lone social outcast barricaded in his single office.
Wow. Either you are trolling or you just came out of Proctor and Gamble's manager in training program. I swear, that's how these guys think (they certainly did when I was an intern there) and it did not help the company much in the last few years.
I loaded their main page and it was slow. Something tells me that some network admin will be very pissed off Monday morning when he sees the usage logs.
Just because they are not in violation of the law does not mean that someone is required to accept mail from them. Users and admins can block email from whoever they like, as it is their equipment.
Internet was built to withstand nuclear war; My cable modem's segment can't withstand a mild rain.:(
Funny how the designers of the Internet were concerned about nuclear war at the hands of SOVIET RUSSIA, but never considered the greatest domestic threat: lawyers.

Mod this drivel TROLL. This story is bullshit and the author knows it. Anyone who is so lacking in ambition that they cannot imagine themselves doing anything other than assembling refrigerators is certainly not ambitious enough to move to India.
If SCO wants to assert that BSD contains code that is in their IP portfolio, they're going to have to invent a time machine.
They could always just patent a time machine and then sue people who make calendars for violating their 'future forecasting IP'. Hey, it makes almost as much sense as what they proposed in the last couple of days.
Its about time that some law cleared up the fact that it is not illegal to post a link. I can think of no good reason why any link should be illegal.
So all we need to do is outlaw guns in all states and there will be no more of them! I'm sure nobody would think of smuggling or producing illegal firearms.

Have no fear, AT&T will certainly find that this violates one of their 'data transfer' patents.

How about the OGG zealots saying that OGG is the only real digital music format and everyone who doesn't use it is 'teh ghey'.

I can't imagine someone like this 'wasting' their time at 'unproductive parties'.

Hey, aren't you that guy I've seen on infomercials at 3 AM with the stock picker software?
