half an hour later i come back and what do ya know - "Thank You for booking online with Aloud.com for your Glastonbury 2004 tickets..." Awesome baby! And a nice conformation email was waiting for me in Thunderbird. Yes i was crazy but happy, although last time I went it only cost a tenner for me to get in.

Well for universities in the uk (for example) you can use the UK academic network (.ac.uk) to download linux iso's and packages which will giving blisteringly fast rates at little or no cost to the university. Try the uk mirror service. For example you can get Fedora test 2 iso's from here.

Also NTFS is preferable over FAT because FAT has no concept of file ownership. On a FAT32 partition any user can delete and modify any file so security goes out the window if more than one person uses the computer. Its almost like running windows 98. This is the main reason why I still use NTFS for my winXP partion.

ntfs also supports bigger file sizes and better performance for bigger partitions along with fact that its a journaling file system like ext3 and reiser.

Pace make a dual frewview recorder but it doesn't do anything groundbreaking and weighs in at 350 pounds which is a pretty damn expensive and the hard drive is only 20 gigs. You could have an array of 50 quid freeview boxes and vcrs for that money, or build a computer with 3 freeview tuners that could be used for other stuff as well, etc.
i would really like sky plus because it's only a one-off fee if you already have a sky sub (share cable at them moment with 5 other people so it works out v cheap for all the channels). Its a shame about the encrypted video though.
