Lots of exploding barrels, and damn this thing called college, need to sleep so I actually might learn something tomorrow.
I completely agree Half-Life 2 is the best out of the 3 and that is judging by the first hour alone.
If you want it even brighter, without affecting the life of the LED itself, you can use Pulse Width Modulation. I built some LED replacements for some microscopes at a lab I worked for and it works you can run the LEDs at twice the current which would mean moving up to 40 watts but I think it is worth it for the extra brightness.
While reading through this I am really hoping that they are trying to make a high profile case to show just how absolutley ridiculous a lot of these patents are starting to get. Either that or maybe that will happen as a by product of this case.
Yes even things that seem simple can turn complex while writing software. However from what I have read so far the patent describes something that is both simple and not complex at all. In early programing courses we were using menus to customize the way an application looked. This is essentially the same thing, anyone who has a CS degree and can not see the obvious way of implementing a solution for this almost instantly should go to a new line of work.
I am new to programming in DirectX but from what I gather they could be going at the big fish that allows people to do this. I am of course talking about Microsoft. The way that all of these publishers do this stuff is using DirectX, after only 1 short lesson on Direct3d programming I know how to violate this patent and all the teachers did was point us in the right direction.
What model do you have, I got a 21" CRT from a graphic designer as well, and I don't think I could ever go to LCD, mine is a radius PressView 21 SR. So very nice and the internal color processer is so nice.
The computer I bought a year and a half ago cost me less then $800 canadian. I play Doom3 at medium settings with 1024 for resolution and get 50+ fps. Same situation for Counter Strike Source right now. So I think that takes care of the "powerful enough for the latest shit" scenario. I admit that I can't take full enough advantage of everything Doom3 has to offer but I do get some of those advanced features at a good frame rate for a cheap pc. I just checked it out and for under $500, canadian again, I could move my machine up to a 64bit athalon 3500+ including a motherboard.
The entire physics can be delegated to each client that isn't the issue, the issue is state data, have you ever noticed that in multiplayer the maps are much smaller and there are a lot less of objects that interact with each other.
The reason for this is the state of each object must be sent over the network all the time. In order to calculate physics it is necessary to know the current position of an object, which way it is oriented in 3 dimensional space, the speed it has, which weapon it currently has selected, there are more but even just those small attributes would be almost impossible to send over the internet for large maps.
I think it is very possible that they had it working but decided that the quality of gameplay was not guaranteed so they cut it out.
I'm just learning about ADC and DAC's right now in school, and it is extremely possible that a faulty ADC circuitry could cause this sort of problem. If they were to skimp out on the parts so that they aren't enabling shift registers at the proper time, or possibly waiting too long after all the data is in the shift register. Hitting the line too fast would cause some sort of blur but hitting the line too slow would oblviously cause some sort of delay. This could be acheived by some inferior part located somewhere in the circuitry.
They may be having a problem with it, but one thing that is true in any industry is that if you throw enough money at a problem it gets solved. I would love to see Sony throw enough money at this problem in order to solve it, currently the only company that really solves this sort of major problem in the nano-tech industry is IBM.
If I remember correctly they had a sliding metal door over where the disc was read, so why would you ever need to replace the case if it got smeared or scratched?
Around here, Western Canada, we call our liquor bottles 26's 40's and 60's for whatever metric equivalents those work out to, I have never bothered to figure it out. For shots of liquor we also use 1oz and 2oz not metric, most of the trades people use the english measurement becuase 1/2" is easier to eye out then 1.25 cm. Whether or not the liquor is just slang for Western Canada or not I am not sure.
Have you actually seen the comic or are you just assuming that everything you say is the case. I do agree that it is not the job of some industry to come and teach students, however it is not fair to assume that they will teach improperly. Having read the article I do not see anywhere that they will say you can not download any music file. While I do agree that there is a large chance what you say can happen, it would be better to try and influence the desicion of what information is presented. Is it not true that industries have a right to protect their source of income.
Just because someone is a complete moron does not mean you should invalidate everything he says. It is very possible a complete moron, through stupidity could say something smart.
And when your education is on the line it is a bad idea to piss off the people who are in charge of making the decision, based on agreements you signed, whether you should stay in school or be kicked out for violating said agreements. These people being the teachers (upset about you taking class attention away from them to view your OS) and the tech support guys (when you are tech support in that large of an environment it is much easier for everything to be the same I know knoppix doesn't change anything but it would still be a concern for them).
Why is this modded flamebait, it is probably the most insightful thing that I have ever, ever read on slashdot, seriously on a website for geeks it taking care of ones mind should be thought of as an important thing.
Thanks for the warning on the use of curse words in comments and test data. In school I regulary use them all the time, and never would have thought they could come back to bite me in the buttocks. Fortunately where I currently work when I occasionally slip and do curse even if it is loudly it is alright.

The only reason I first got a wheel mouse was for switching weapons in FPS games. Now I use the wheel constantly for things like coding, editing term papers and reading/. I know of no easier way to scroll through 200+ comments in an article then with a wheel, it is way less effort then moving your whole arm.

Was the onion on your belt because it was the style at the time?

There is always hope, what I am curious about is how much the lady who runs ilovebees is being paid to let this happen to her site.
Chances are if he bought it for his girlfriend he didn't read any reviews. She said, "I like CSI, buy me the game." So he bought it for her.
If your sick and tired of it why did you post as AC FUCKWAD

In my experience being honest about your mistakes and having the willingness to learn from them always pays off.
