Of course people will make excuses for them because they are a socialist utopia.
Whoa, whoa, lets not get carried away now. Sure, our dear Lords do provide us with subsidized Tim Horton's coffee "drink" and provide us with "health care", but they also force us to watch pugilistic hockey matches, won't let us purchase assault rifles all willy-nilly and force us to watch Celine Dion and Justin Bieber specials on CBC. I would hardly call it a utopia.
My launch XBO has not had any issues so far and I use it quite a bit. I have about 15 friends with them and only one has had an issue thus far, his was DOA when he bought it.
Starting with with the 360 Slim they started using big heat sinks and fans venting the hot air via slits directly above the CPU/GPU, so heat dissipation hasn't been an issue for quite some time now. I picked up a Slim shortly after they launched and its been fine so far too, the quality jump between it and the original 360 was pretty big, IMO.
Defense lawyer: "Your honor, the Amazon Echo device did not tell little Johnny right from wrong, teach him respect for human life, henceforth he murdered those 12 people because of Amazon..."
Judge: "I find Johnny not guilty, by reason of Echofluenza... Case dismissed! Siri, what is next on the docket?"
I've lived in Alberta for close to 20 years now and the PC government's failure to attempt (to my knowledge) to diversify the economy has reared its head again in the latest bust cycle in the oil and gas industry. Perhaps something like this report, coupled with the low commodity prices will finally wake up the provincial government that its time to actively support other industries here. BC gives tax credits to TV and film production companies and they had a banner year in 2015. I believe Quebec gives tax breaks to game companies and Ubisoft, for example, has a huge number of employees in Montreal.
I work at a software dev company who has no oil and gas ties or customers, and surprise surprise, we are doing well during the downturn here. There is no guarantee of course but if the governments had spent some time, effort and petro dollars into trying to build and attract new industries here it probably wouldn't be quite as bad now as it is.
How would this ever have been considered a toy? Small, non-mechanical and fast, seems like the future to me. Yeah it was expensive when it first came to market but like most tech you know its going to improve and get cheaper as time goes by.
If Maslow's hierarchy of needs was modified for gamers a good video card would probably fall between Safety and Love/Belonging. Well maybe Video Card could be lumped together with caffeine source.
From TFA:
“Every time you send an iMessage, ask Siri a question, or make a FaceTime call, you can feel good about your impact on the environment,” said Jackson.
Haha, umm, OK. How long until Siri is instructing Liam to "recycle" humans for the coming Robo-pocalyse.
I think I just went back in time 15 years, a 'first post" post attempt and slashdot actually listening to users these days. If only my hairline would go back that far in time as well.
The summary is not really summary written by the submitter, the second and third sentences are taken verbatim from the Microsoft press release about the acquisition. Seems a bit advertisement-ish to me as well.
Below is the third paragraph from the press release link above:
"In conjunction with Visual Studio, Xamarin provides a rich mobile development offering that enables developers to build mobile apps using C# and deliver fully native mobile app experiences to all major devices – including iOS, Android, and Windows. Xamarin’s approach enables developers to take advantage of the productivity and power of.NET to build mobile apps, and to use C# to write to the full set of native APIs and mobile capabilities provided by each device platform. This enables developers to easily share common app code across their iOS, Android and Windows apps while still delivering fully native experiences for each of the platforms. Xamarin’s unique solution has fueled amazing growth for more than four years."
I didn't realize large, monolithic corporations we capable of crying. Doesn't go well with greed, lack of compassion and disdain for anyone who disagrees with you mantra that most of them seem to employ.;)
For the most part I don't use ad blockers as I understand the need for some sites to make money that way. I just won't go to a website that inundates me with bullshit ads or slows down loading while the site is loading ads from the Super Garbage Ad Network, powered by P4s and a token ring network running in a shanty town somewhere in Mumbai.
I agree somewhat with both sides of the story in TFA, but more with Shine in this case. Bringing a hammer down on everything is the only way to get Googles and Yahoos to wake up to the issue. We are tired of the garbage guys, do something about it.
A phone is just like any other device with internet access where most of the time its the users fault their device is exploited. Using common sense and being cautious you keep you safe most of the time.
So how do you make Slashdot posts, using a linux live CD/DVD?;)
I did neither. I've been using Windows 10 since the first consumer preview release and Edge since it was first released in the CP. Edge has potential, but in its current state its definitely not good enough to make me switch to using it as my primary browser on Windows, Linux or whatever other OS it gets ported to. Lack of support for plug-ins, overly simplified UI and the hybrid search/address bar are enough for me to stay away at the moment.
My grandma is going to love the 4K broadcasts, IOC totes knows whats its doing.
It actually sounds rather Trumpish.

Coming in 10 years.

Although I did not have this option enabled, a comment on its demise would be appropriate. I can't find it anymore either.
Since the number of good apps in store is next to nothing, employees will have nothing to find to distract them.

What if it was an Autobot there to protect you from that Keurig coffee maker that cracks the occasional "Optimus sucks" joke?

I was in the same boat when they added accounts but waited a "bit" longer than you to sign up. Well maybe a few months-ish longer, doh.
At the very least it should be updated to the Vista logo, which when clicked upon takes you to this video, because the "Wow" is now:

If you see something referencing "the tame Apple press" or "Jobs' Mob" you'll know that has happened, haha.
They are watching the Slashdot videos.

Let's play Global Thermonuclear War.
Here you go: http://www.forbes.com/sites/er...
By using let me google that for you.

If that doesn't work maybe someone has a GeoCities site about this issue.
I'm disappointed, I wanted to find out more about whats going on the the Japanese TV and film industry.
This knowledge was most likely gained in one of the following manners:
1. Canadian Witchcraft
2. ESP
3. A Ouija board
4. Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
I'm guessing probably number 1.
