It's not. It's been available for months, you just haven't installed it yet.
If you had, you'd have noticed it's nothing to worry about, and it's actually quite nice to be able to do something else while I'm Windows Updating. This window can be minimized, whereas the previous version couldn't.
It's also more detailed of what it's doing at any given moment, and the progress bar seems a little more accurate in its proportions.
Ok well it's fixed now, posting this in case some of you experience the same thing.
I had downloaded the optimized build of Firefox 1.0 for Barton core chips, and it seemed that the upgrade, although it didn't complain upon install, didn't like that very much.
I restored the old directory I had backed up before installing that build (the official 1.0 realease), then I reinstalled 1.0.1 and everything works.
It's worse than I though, anything I type in the address bar or the google bar, when I hit enter it just closes Firefox and kills the process.
I disabled all my extensions (which seemed to work anyways) and put back the default theme, still no luck.
I'm looking on the Firefox support forums, seeing a lot of bug reports but not this perticular one:/
Ever wonder WHERE he got all that money from? Some nigerian Prince had to transfer ten gazigigantozillion dollars through his bank account, and left him with 2%...
Mine is quite similar.
I use my Yamaha CDRW to read the music, or just play MP3s, and I have a direct connection from my box to my PC headphones, which lets me enjoy the music in STEREO!
Apparently an All-In-Wonder Radeon Vivo 64Mb DDR does not cut it either... That's just an assumption though, since the error messages said... wait, hold up.
THERE WERE NO ERROR MESSAGES.
Great work! I downloaded less than 100Kb of crap which generated a progress bar that got around 3% (guessing here, no actual words or numbers displayed... ASCII characters are too heavy), and crashed.
You know I have everything I need to crash Windows BUILT-IN, I don't even need that extra 100Kb.
Author keeps bitching about Tmobile and Fido cause the phones he bought from them are locked... Could you European folks just please check out the facts before you call these companies "scumbags" (from the article, about Fido).
The fact is that both Canadian and American phone companies have to fund phones to make them cheaper for consumers so they can get 'em at decent prices. Vtech phones may be shit, but you paid CDN $60, while it woulda cost you about US $200 to get it in Europe unlocked. So buy your crap and don't complain.
Meanwhile I suspect that the number of articles saying Moore's law can't go on forever will double every month on /. starting now.

Try it sometime, and take the tinfoil hat off.
If you'd RTFA, you'd know by now that they have already built their Factory, and getting the Armoury done... Goliaths are on their way.
It doesn't introduce any heat issues... they've been there since the first K7 chips.
How much does it cost for the Students' Essay Generator version?
You don't understand, his program was used to auto-correct spelling mistakes...
websters.com did not recognize brent, so it made the necessary adjustments.
You were born 6'5"??
I, unlike the submitter, haven't seen any decrease in the level of respect I get for my computer and programming skills.
It's pretty stable at 0...
Seems they could've chosen a more impressive set to show off their technology :/
Seems they have plenty of time machines for sale still.

How bout you stop playing vid games at work and start working, that ought to help your country out a bit.
Seems the system is working to me, lazy ass workers get booted so someone who needs and deserves the job can get a chance.

You didnt want to WAIT to load up the site and download HEADERS just to get a mail count.
You DO want to WAIT to load up a mail client and download the WHOLE EMAILS just to get it?
Only on /.
Albert should learn his lesson after 50 times not confessing.
I once hotswapped my PS2 keyboard WITHOUT FRYING THE BOARD!

MS-DOS is already a fault tolerant shell, it can work with Windows.
