Genetic Engineering is the most exciting and cutting edge science today. Scienists are splicing genes that could never meet in real life. For instance taking genes out of fish that make them cold resistant and putting them into grain to make the grain resistant to cold. This is a clumsy example but genetic engineering has amazing possiblities.
Actaully the real reason that the search 'miserable failure' ranks so high in google is because so many blogs are linking his site to the words 'miseralbe failure'.
God I wish I had something better to do than post here...
I saw an interview with Jim Lord from Deep Purple recently where he talked about the church organ recording they did for one song. They just loved the sound this particular organ made in some isolated church. To record it they actually set up a telephone line from the church to the recording studio. Bizarre but they where not able to bring any mobile recording equipment to the church.
thanks for putting this post up. My mum wants me to create a photo gallery for my dads 60th birthday. Its a gallery from when they where 21 and travelled by combi van overland from Singapore, through Iran and Iraq to Turkey and then through Europe to England. I'm going to give your suggested Gallery a look at. Can I ask a question? What is a good host? One that has decent MB allowance, supports the required PHP and not to many ads?
Sounds like the arguement of Waterfall vs Iterative programming.
From my own experience I believe iterative programming works better. For small (couple of days) to large (6 months) I have always achieved a faster implementation when I have been on-site working along side the people who will be using the program.
I recently completed a course in Sound Engineering. Its a course that people who study it are really into it - its very very good fun basically and cool. Out of the 40 people who started the course only 4 are eliglable to pass And its looking like only me and another guy are actually going to pass. My point is that we are used to working with very smart and very fired up people and sometimes we forget that most people start with good intentions but don't have the X factor that sees them pass the finish line let alone get good results P.S. I'm expecting to get 85 - 90 for my final mark:)
I have to agree with you - we haven't bothered to update our Win98 & Office 2000 network and apart from the benefit of cost saving we also had another benefit... we didn't get any of the latest virus/worm attacks that hit win2000/XP.
Hey man! You might not like your job but I do like mine -
what your describing is how I make my living. Its an interesting job - if you don't like it get another job.
Plugzilla costs $3500...for that price I can see why I've never heard of this box before.
It is a great idea but the price is to high. Most musos and engineers these days are thinking about using their old computer(s) to run software FX and their new computers for the workstation.
I think the reason that computers will never fully take over is because computers don't really multi-task or run operations in parallel. They try to fool us by changing quickly from one task to another. However a 96 channel desk with heaps of outboard gear is actaully running all channels in parallel. And this makes for a better overall sound.
By the way - most people are used to hearing music made with millions of dollars worth of equipment (on the radio). Thats why my recordings made on a $2000 laptop don't meet their expections.
In America most radio music is propably made on SSL K Seris 96 channel desks. And there is only one of these desks in Australia!
Remember in Mission Impossible when Tom had
to search the Internet and his only
clue was JOB... it was amazing how after typing
in (you guessed it) JOB - the search came
up with the just the top secret information he
was looking for.
Computers are generally totally misrepresented
in the movies.
And did you ever notice how in Star Wars the space
ships make noise - well thats impossible in space!!!!!
I've never been modded more than 1 for any comment I've ever made on/.
perhaps I should start my on newsgroup...cry
It is an interesting read, I wonder how Linus would have reacted?
As programmers we need to think about the economics of our efforts.
A program is Capital Expenditure for a business. Its only worth paying a programmer for some programming if that expense will be saved in labour costs in the future, or if that expense will create an more business in the future.
I guess this is all pretty obvious stuff...yesterday I had to knock my quote down for 2 weeks programming from $2500 (AUD) to $1200 (AUD). You do the maths!!!:)
The Atari 1040 comes with
built in MIDI.
Combined with a copy of Cubase its still
as powerful as any other MIDI controller
out there.
Note: A MIDI controller is used to control
sound modules and samplers.
I use to have a Nokia 3310 - it had a great UI - only three buttons to navigate - but mostly you just clicked the middle button to get to most stuff.
It was a bit of an old clunker (to big) so I got a sexy new Errison T335. Terrible UI - I didn't release how spoilt I was - it was so difficult to navigate.
It was so bad I changed back to my old clunker Nokia 3310. Next chance I got I swapped back to a much smaller Nokia 6510 - this one has 5 navigation buttons - not as good a UI as the 3310 but very similiar.
Note: I don't work for Nokia - just my experience with mobile phones I've owned.

gross...your friend was forking his sister. Isn't that illegal!
Actually the axiom is:
As simple as it needs to be, but no simpler.
The acid test of this program is if will hook me up with barely legal teens
- either that or 45 year old, sexually confused geeks...:)
NO NO NO NO
Google is one of us. They are one of the good guys.
Don't hate Google! Please?

Musos care about cost. And Linux is cheap.
Musos also care about drivers and unfortunately Linux doesn't deliver on this like Windows does.
A PC that runs XP efficently will cost me $2000. And thats an entry level machine. Why love Linux? - because its damn cheap!
Your all individuals

Asian nations never pay for software anyway. Most of there Windows software is pirate - its free now so why bother changing?
