  1. CANADA on Canadian Recording Industry Goes After P2P Users · · Score: 2, Interesting

I guess in this case you CAN really blame canada :)

I'm glad this crap isn't taking place in the Netherlands. For now downloading is legal here, uploading isn't.
Some dutch artists are trying to influence the government into changing the law here to go after the downloaders as well.

If cds were cheap here, I would say "all power to them" but right now they cost about $30,- each.
What is the approx. price of cd's in the US? a somewhat empty mind wants to know.

"Kill all humans, KILL ALL HUMANS"

"Fry Fry, I had this wonderful dream and I think you were in it"
    Bender falls asleep again
(in a sexy voice) "Hey baby, wanna kill all humans?"

  4. Normally... on Robot Stories Movie · · Score: 5, Interesting

Normally you see the complete opposite story.
A robot trying to live/adapt to a human environment.
Bicentenial man (probably spelled that wrong)
    Data (from Star Trek TNG)
Short Circuit (who doesn't know this one)
Countless Anime series and movies (Chobits is my favourite, GO BUY IT)

The only series/movie that comes to mind is the (Ani-)Matrix, but that one doesn't really fit the bill either.

I can understand that sometimes it helps, but it never helped if people cursed at me.

  16. Go to Pantip on Microsoft Develops XP 'Light' for Thailand · · Score: 0

When you are in Bangkok, at least check out Pantip Plaza. It's the biggest computer mall I've ever seen in my life. And a lot of stalls sell illegal cd's/dvd's.
The dvd's aren't worth it though. The cd's are :)

btw, last time I was in Bangkok, I bought 6-7 ORIGINAL Utada Hikaru albums for +/- $8 a piece. If I imported them to my place of birth (Schiedam, Netherlands) I would have paid +/- $30 a piece
Those albums had a label on them saying that they could only be sold in Thailand.
This means that the tactics that the thai RIAA (if they have one) are using is:

    - CHEAPER CD'S TO COMPETE AGAINST PIRACY

Who would have thought it really could work ??

  17. Fantastic on Two Blanks Against the Trend · · Score: 2, Interesting

Cool, so now I can burn my porn to their official cdr's and nobody will notice :)

But seriously, I don't think this will have much effect on the music industry. If a big artist like Britney Spears (well, there's something big about her) would do this, then it would get a lot more media attention, in this case in the mainstream press and not on a backwater website like Slashdot (Joe Normal doesn't read this website)
