well, yes king kong was a good movie concept about the struggle between man and nature, freedom and slavery, and all that. peter jackson however cant direct crap. LOTR sucked ass! the first one was all story and the last two were all fighting. not very balanced IMHO. the books were way better. But hey thats opinion right? personally i think that jackson is a hack. his last movie of note? the frightners in like 1997 (i would add that MJ fox really carried that movie and i doubt that jackson had much to do with it). the frightners and lord of the rings does not a good director make.

but that doesnt matter thats my opinion. I will say that remakes pretty much universally suck. Infact i cannot think of a single good remake off the top of my head. dawn of the dead is the only one i can think of really, adn they pretty much coppied the first movie to the letter.

anyways the grandparent that you were responding to was not a tool, as he was actually pretty much anti hollywood remakes. i definitely think calling a man who made 1 really long movie with tonnes of resources/help (millions and millions of dollars, heavy CG, a really good story and liv tyler) not a hack indicates that you are infact, the tool.

So off i go to find it knowing how helpful the linux comunity usually is. Whats this? YEARLY FEE? um linux = free. why i gots to pay for this shit?

so off i went to the torrent sites. as i was downloading Cedega, I realized that the arrow keys in firefox, didnt actually scroll the page, but rather scrolled thru listings of items i had typed in a text box? wtf! says I! I clicked on the screen, thiking that maybe my scroll arrows were caught in a frame. no such luck. aparently using the arrow keys to scroll the page instead of the mousewheel (no mousewheel on a laptop), is buggy at best and down right not working at worst.

this is why as soon as i get a CDROM drive (linux was able to be installed VIA bootp WHICH IS WHY ITS GOOD FOR SERVERS) i will be putting 2k on my laptop. See what linux needs to do is make everything work OUT OF THE BOX. that and standardize the update systems; emerge, yum, up2date, urpmi, aptget... I mean come ON. everytime i try a new distro it takes me at least 30 minutes to figure out how to do the updates properly. but i guess im dumb and need to RTFM.

I want to IMAGINE what they are like irl, based on the style and language that their character uses. Im not a roleplayer, and i can see the convienience of collaboration using voice, but it really does take alot of the "suspension of disbelief" away. Combine that with the fact that its alot harder to ignore people talking about stupid non related shit, than it is to ignore them typing about it.

The other reason is i hate most peoples accents online. thats kind of a personal attack but i'm really not going to take orders from, or have leadership confidence in, some guy who sounds like he lives in his parents basement and starts wheezing when he gets excited.

well the thing is that it is generally believed that its not random chances but circumstance based motivation, that leads to "logical mutations" taking precedence over old ways of doing things. alot of people simply cant grasp the slightness and timescale that evolution occupies. especially when you take into account that most religious folk tend to think 'old' is 2000 or 4000 years ago.

the only other thing to say would be that given the presumed infinite stretches of time, and how big we know the galaxy to be, one would only go on to assume that somewhere at sometime, we would come into being. did "god"[1] lock all the buildingblocks of life into place for us or was it simply a mathematical chance that it happened where it did (here) and when it did (billions of years ago).

[1] the thing that ive never heard explained to my satisfaction is, ok you believe we were 'seeded', created, whatever. well who created the creators? who seeded the seeds? eventually, i would argue, you need to have an origin. is it more plausible that a) a creator who lives outside of the universe created the universe b) the universe is the creator (non sentient of coarse). since the (a) option requires me to believe in infinite ukranian dolls, and is at odds with most science, i choose the latter. People dont need an imaginary god to keep them in line. what people need is a better sense of responsibility and accountability in their own mind. people need to act more honourably, across the board.

As for the rest, I think that you are seeing things as good and evil still. nihilism (i assume thats what you mean by 'taoless') is something you can use for whatever you want. its imho more free than a taoist (supernatural) force that will never be quantified or explained. the great thing about nothing is that you can make it into something, without carrying over any variables (ie spirits, universal harmony) that dont prove useful or unavoidable.
