...a friend of mine took his phone out with him in a heavy storm, and it got rather water damaged. He decided he'd "dry out the phone" by taking the battery out, and placing it on his radiator...luckily, we were all in the room at the time, and able to enlighten him somewhat...
At least (unlike several other large companies), Sun produced a patch before the issue was released to the public. How many times does this normally happen (certainly, I can think of no instances this has happened for Windows - anyone care to enlighten me?)...
...given some of the poverty in India, one cannot help but agree. Why a manned mission? It's been proved over and over again that robotic missions can produce similar data to a manned mission, but with far lower cost. If India truly wanted to do this for science, why not a robotic mission?...but presumably, there is some nationalist pride here as well. However, I do applaud their efforts to develop technology...
"I'm frankly sick of all the damned jingoism and nationalist fever in the red states"...whereas there's none of that in the red state of China? No self delusion and jingoism in China? None at all?
Working in stage, how many LED profile lights have you seen? Because I havn't seen any. Ever. Pleanty of woderful washes, but no spot lights. There's a reason. Think about it (it's to do with optics...). Until someone can come up with a way of creating an LED profile, they'll never truly enter the theatrical market.
...one might have thought given the year of so the game has thought to have remained in a workable state they might have come across a bug like this, especially if it's affecting large numbers of people...
Several (at least 5) years ago there was talk of a similar system to serve Bristol, a largish city in the UK. The idea was for small "pods" (as they were called) to carry around 5 passengers at a time to various destinations along a tram line. Aside from concerns about vandalism, I believe at the time it was thought impractical, and shoved away in favour of a normal tram (which was then denied funding...).
Although it's great that iTunes is ported to Linux, I'd never call it a "reason to move". It's ridiculous to say "Use this OS, because now we've managed to get another program from another OS to sort of work".
See, if Apple created iTunes for Linux - that might just be a reason to move. But I'd hardly call this a "reason". It's more a convenience for those already on the platform...there are far more friendly music players for Linux, and there are ways of syncing the iPod under Linux that don't involve iTunes. The only thing you gain is the access to the iTunes music store...
Cool as it is, I'm wondering why they chose to release this product so soon to the DS being released...although the DS will probably be able to use the cartridge with no problems, the two screens and networking features the DS offers might have been quite useful...
Indeed, I have one lying around somewhere. It was a 640x480 LCD mounted in a metal casing about the size of an A4 sheet of paper, and around 3 inches thick. It would sit on top of the projector, but had a tendancy to overheat (the OHP light heating up everything inside the casing as well...).
According to The Guardian (a UK paper, which had an interesting article today on the same topic), "green" hydrogen (hydrogen produced from bio-mass etc, instead of fossil fuels), would be between $10 - $20 per gallon of petrol equivalent...
It could be done - it's actually very easy to turn 2D CGI into 3D Imax - it's just actual film that's impossible. It's been done before - the Simpsons' Halloween segment shot in CGI by PDI was re-rendered in 3D IMAX resolution. It's just a matter of rendering a slightly different camera views for the stereoscopic effect. Whether they'll bother on the other hand...
But yet, there is a surprisngly large amount of Bose sound equipment in theatres / performance spaces...because of the "Bose Theorum". People (typically executives who think they know best) order Bose equipment without consulting sound techs, because they percieve them "to be the best", because they advertise the hell out of their consumer line - and their actual consumer Hi-Fi's are alright, and produce a decent sound. So, an executive orders in some Bose 802 speakers, "because they're the best - if they're in the Sunday supplements they must be good!"
Which leaves me with a theatre with a sh*t sound system, and I have to hire in a PA everytime we have a big show...
Certainly in the UK, before videogames it was "Video Nasties" that was corrupting the youth into violent deeds. Today, nobody seems to care that kids watch "Zombie Blood Massacre III". I'd imagine in a decade there will be some other piece of technology being blamed by some for the downfall of society.
Was this bad timing on Apple or XM's part, or intentional? Surely there'd be reduced press coverage on the XM device with the new iPods being launched...
I think the burning question is whether you'll be allowed to download the first 20 minutes off P2P, before a little message pops up saying "Get the other 40 minutes, for only $4.99 - plus, a free hint booklet!"
...BT can't actually do away with all their phone boxes without a massive public outcry. I remember BT planning to remove a phonebox right next to a very high bridge (with quite a high suicide rate), and were effectively ordered by the council to continue operating it.
I'm not saying all phone boxes should stay - their are too many phoneboxes, simply because many were required when few had mobile phones.
"At this point, the International Space Station (ISS) is just a photo opportunity for the press"
Couldn't agree more - in an article yesterday in a UK broadsheet (might have been the Times, can't really remember) it stated "the new crew will be researching AIDS vaccine"...my immediate thought was that the crew would probably be a bit too busy trying to repair the station, and this was just an attempt to get Joe Public to believe the ISS was at the "cutting edge" of research...
Even better, the music from Titanic is set as a major exam topic for A-Level Music here in the UK (God, I've had to watch that film twenty times now, and it's STILL JUST AS PAINFUL!)

:)
Just replace "dictatorship" with "president"...

I'd still rather have that message than that f*cking paper clip!!!...

Am I the only one who gets an image of Charlie Brown when looking at art of Marving looking down at a barren landscape? Weird :)

That would be the FIRST time the Trilogy has been released legally on DVD. RTFA!
