    whow... I stept on someones toes here?

    Well: If it wasn't for urope you guys would still be running around with feathers in your hair. ;-]

    My point was that in war you USians seem to not be analysing a lot... just whacking all that moves. (which might not be that bad as a tactic)

    But let's take Vietnam... (oops... you guys tried to take Vietnam... after our french friends already showed you guys it could not be done.) Accidentaly, what did the us fight that war for?

    Anyway: the vietcong, and the germans, and the germans and the koreans, and the afghans all had one thing in comon: they were outclassed in number and quality (not exactly the germans, they just had to little good stuff left.) AND they had hardly any food.

    How did your oponants all survive this long?

    and your point: US just can't do anything to please Europe, can it? well... let's say: stop trying to please us already!

    I think the DARPA guys need just to study the wars the USians brought to countries like Vietnam, Korea, Somalia, Afganistan and probably Iraq too... (oh off and course closer to my home... Germany, twice.)

    Most of those wars were fought agains adversaries that had to do without food for days...

    So, only driving is allowed in this contest, no hovering or flying?

    It would be soo much easier just to buy an old Apache (keep the hellfires attached... to have extra competative advantage) and fly over the course that was set out.

    Probably more usefull too, once el quada acquire these robocars (or bikes) it would be handy to have something that can fly to take out the hordes of robocars coming to invade the us...

    oh... and this would be old technology, since we learned to fly drones way back in previous century. ... if DARPA would have really set a challange it would have been soo much more interesting. Why dont they set it to be "build a vehicle to invade Mars." (competing so far are: a baloon, a couple of rovers and a one armed DOA esa beagle)

    It would take years before the series finaly hit our country...

    hmm... might do, but the 80's was not the period wher I documented a lot. I do not have the actual electronics any more either... so it would be just some pics and nothing more.

    Hi guys,

    Nice... those live DEMO's but that's not what I need.

    A question I have had for a while now is: what linux to install...

    I am not new to linux, I just have not had a version installed since RH 5.2 I totaly lost contact with linux for a while.

    I'd like to have a system for my standard office work and doing some small website developments...

    What would be the, easy installable, distro for me?

    I built one of those slave flash thingies somewhere in the mid '80s ... combined it with a microphone and a old Praktica reflex camera...
    (total kit was about $80 worth of cam and electronics...)

    I had about the same results, only then using black and white photo's.

    I think I am going to start one of those sites too. I am just as much a nerd as these guys!
