1. PIM.. Sounds nice, but I want my e-mail client to do *e-mail*, and do it well. No thanks.
I agree, however there is some crossover of function involved here; I keep an address book on my palm, which has email addresses for those people. I usually don't remember the addresses in my head, so I like my palm to sync with my email client, so I can address emails by name.
However, I would like that as just one function, and have a completely separate PIM as well.
move off campus to get a nice roadrunner cable modem connection, as the school likes to muck with (read: terminate) connections on ports > 1024, which inhibits file sharing, mp3 streaming, and just about anything else that is useful or enjoyable.
For those that don't know, the strings on string instruments used to be made mainly from gut. As instruments became louder and more resonant, concert halls got bigger, and most strings have been replaced with steel, which is strung very tight and is very resonant.
However, some people still choose to use gut strings, particuarly those of cat gut. A friend of mine who strings his viola with cat gut strings and I used to joke about taking kitty to the music store, handing him over the counter, ordering some new strings, waiting while kitty was taken to the back room and after a minute or so of trashing, out came the clerk with some beautiful brand new gut strings.
This friend has been known to pet his viola while making an affectionate face and muttering, "kitty!"
I have a loud hd and a quiet one. I use the loud one just for occasional backups and stuff. When I want it, I just plug in the power and mount it... when I'm done, I unmount and kill the power. The ide cable just stays connected.
it's all about having control over other people - it's definitly a highly esteemed social value, and maybe it's even built into our brains genetically as well.
How 'bout a value add such as super-fast/. servers, verses relatively slow ones for non-paying?
Also, even something like "theme choices" can be enough to nudge someone to buy an account.
I only subscribe to two sites; one is for original artwork, and the other one only buys me fast server access and some little options like embedding their pages inside mine, and using a variety of images.
So if I have a raid 1 setup, that is the exact same stuff on both disks that I would have on a single disk, right? So if I decided to pop out one disk and put it into another box, it could be used normally, i.e. there isn't weird stuff on the disk because it's raid 1, right?
What you didn't know is that all these years Linus himself has been using the kernels of all net-connected linux users to munch data which he sells for a nice profit...
I learned to read using the sounds of the words and that has led to a very slow reading style. It takes me a long time to read because I need to hear things in my head to read. Now I must spend much time learning how to get the meaning of the word by seeing it. Please, teach your kids the right way to read, the first time!
I actually do run cat5 outside the house, down and through the basement, and up through the floor from there. The problem is that the outdoor cable is very exposed to static in the air, and especially during a storm may damage your electronic equipment connected to that cable!
A storm took out all the 3com nics on my network, but the intel nics survived. Needless to say, we run all intel nics now...

This is all well and good, but some of the best aspects of school are learning to communicate with other people in real life, defend your ideas, and think on your toes!
Fortunately, it took out my serial ports and nothing else. At the very least, Palm should acknolege that this stuff actually happens, even if they don't take the blame.
He built his own coral castle using minimal second hand equipment. He only worked at night. In about 25 years he moved about 1100 tons of coral. All he would ever say is that he knows the secrets of leverage and magnetics, and that he knows how the pyramids were constructed.

I've never had problems with power or data loss.

it's very simple, you see - a single arrow breaks easily, however a bundle of them is much stronger!

The details that count!
then watch /. turn into microsoft as users leave by the 10000's, and /. starts DOSing major news hubs to force them back...
Or you can just get one of these!
don't forget blackbox and fluxbox
