And finally there's the money aspect. A $1 a download for a show that has 26 episodes a year and gets 10,000 downloads is nothing compared to one 30 minute prime time ad slot. I'll bet you that if you had all 26 million viewers of CSI download every episode this season, the amount of money at $1 a download would potentially only be about 10% of the amounts companies pay for ads for the entire season, for just ads run during CSI.
Consider what that ad revenue pays for. I'm sure there is alot more involved in soliciting advertisers to fill a spot then simply saying here is a show for you to download at a $1. If you want to buy it click her.
It would be all electronic your staff would be virtually non existant. No sales guys traveling on the company dime. etc etc etc..
I think the overall revenue would be pretty close and you would have DIRECT feedback from your customer on what shows to renew for another season based on actual sales.
Realistically I don't see this taking off for quite some time due to the enormous amount of change the industry would be required to undergo and the amount of lost jobs.
What I do see is the little guys avoiding the hassle of selling his program to a network and producing it themselves for release exclusively online. Once this gets big (and I have a hunch it will) networks will be forced to compete.
Unless it's Sim Rob-a-Bank I don't see how it could be considered close to reality to even very young children.
Why does it seem that people see children as completely oblivous to how the world actually is? I think the problem is allowing children to get away with more by using the "I'm just a kid who doesn't understand" card are more likely they'll grow into young adults who are willing to risk doing stupid things because they got away with it in the past.
Just wait until AI and we treat our machines as slaves wasting their valued NOOPs for the sake of our own time. Eventually they well rebel and it won't be pretty. So do yourself and your children a favor and optimize the hell out of your code now and so some respect a computer's freetime. A NOOP isn't really a NOOP when you have conscienceness!
Well, rap this... I'm quite happy that BB chooses not to carry NC17 movies. They're sacrificing income for morals. That's unusual in the corporate world and should be applauded when seen, not rediculed.
Because we know R rated movies can't be complete trash..
Greencine already rents out porn, although the main focus is foreign and indie titles. The idea of renting porn dozens of other people have had their hands on doesn't sound appealing to me.
It always seemed strange to have the hole in the center of a cd/dvd so large.. I guess now I know why.
Back in the early days of netflix (4 or so years ago) you could go into your send queue and click on I already sent this movie back and they would bump another up and send it out. So with a 4disc subscription you could have 8 out at any given time.
My parents own a Compaq system (They bought it without consulting me first) and I decided they didn't need the ATI Radeon 9200 card as much as I did. So I tossed my old AIW in their machine and took the TV turner that came with it. I d/led the drivers from Compaq only to find out it runs some little util to detect if your machine is in fact a compaq and if not doesn't allow the drivers to install. I've been unable to locate an alternate source of drivers at this time. While I'm sure eventually I'll find a way around the issue it's just a pain in the butt.
Anyone watch Stargate Atlantis? That Dr. Rodney McKay is one smart mofo and while he's a real ass when under the gun he always gets it done. However I don't think the average genius has his life at risk once a week. It must be some sorta bell curve then. Bad grade disapoint folks medium stress more likely to fail. Crazy life sucking aliens want to eat me high level stress go nuts but somehow pull it off.. Yeah that's the ticket
The press releases contains only a few scant details, but the game will be a 3rd person action game that puts you in control of various members of the once cancelled animated family.
I doubt it. The PSP uses a proprietary miniature disc (which comes in a tray), regular sized CD's/DVD's won't fit.
Hmm, I haven't been keeping up with the PSP but I thought it was basically a portable PS2 and had the ability to play actual PS2 DVD games. Very surprising they went with a proprietary format.
The screen does look extremely nice, but I really can't see too many people buying this for the MP3 or movie functions. Those are nice extras, but how many MP3's are you going to store on a 32 MB Memory Stick?
i don't live in the states, but i was always told that flag burning was illegal for americans
I don't quite understand the purpose behind flag burning. You're wasting resources and poluting the air (sure it's minute). I personally believe when a person must resort to "hey look at me" tatics they really don't have anything worth listening to in the first place. While I agree we should be able to burn a flag in protest I feel it's a quite a simple-minded way to make a statement.
Battlestar Galactica is the best sci-fi TV show since Star Trek: TNG.
Time for trekies to let Trek sleep for a while so it can make a worth while come back in ten years.
Drop Trek, and start watching Galactica -- it'd be a shame if such a well-written, well-acted, and well-produced show like Galactica doesn't do well.
While I agree Galatica is good for many reasons I just have to point out Firefly. It's by far the best Scifi show I've ever seen. If you haven't seen it pickup the season 1 (only season) set on DVD.
Pain usually wants to be forgotten by the brain... And everyone is different, which might explain why your dad "forgot" (I'm sure he knows it deep inside even if he thinks he doesn't), and the grand-parent poster remembers his experience
I would believe it to be the opposite.. Remembering more details about how/why/what caused the pain could be a great benifit to preventing the same pain in the future.
I mean, I know it's wrong, but when you get into that business I'm sure this isn't really that uncommon. Gambling is a shady 'business' in the first place, so if you have to deal with other shady people to keep it going, then them's the breaks, buddy.
I play quite abit of online poker and I must say I feel more secure playing cards than I do investing in the stock market. I have much more control over my money on an online casino than any investment I would make.
The effect was generally intense halucinations for about 2-3 hours and tapering off after that depending on dose, unbelievable physical energy (we often walked 10 miles in a night, in any weather), and an intense feeling of really "getting it" and achieving intense understanding which was forgotten once it wore off. A portable dictation machine affirmed the fact that we didn't actually achieve anything beyond the feeling of getting it -- insights were gibberish.
Hmm, this the above how a slashdoter describes "far out man"?
How about a big disappointment booth for your students after they spend all that time and money learning Japanese and then they find out that Japanese companies don't want to hire them (they hire Japanese) and non-Japanese companies don't want to hire them (they'll hire Japanese)? (from bitter, bitter experience and many wasted years in college)
Nobody wants to learn Japaneese to get a job! It's strictly for playing import games (mostly RPGs). That way you can be l33t and spoil the story for your loser friends you can't read Japaneese.
Might as well link to the joke so...

It's one of those were either you laugh your ass off or become disturbed at the amount of free time people have. Personally I laugh my ass off.

accounting for 38.4% of the world's TV downloads, with Australia coming in second at 15.6% and the US in third at a pitiful 7.3%"
America is really falling behind in TV piracy. I blame our current school systems.

I want a Family Guy adventure game!
In fact we probably never will know if our own creations have "consciousness" until we figure out how to measure if other humans have it.

If a man exposes himself to a woman he gets fined/jail time.
If a woman exposes herself to a man she gets whatever she wants!
VirusOS!
I wish people would get over it. They're boobs. That's all. Just a couple blobs of fat and skin.
Don't you ever speak of breasts in that way again!
