I've been told bbb.se offers 10Mbit full duplex service for the equivalent of 20USD/month... why does the USA, the most envious of nations, have inferior options?
I don't know if the question is written differently in the already completed study, but I just took the survey (wave 2), and it says "to see my character grow," so.... maybe you missed the word, "grow." Now maybe this will make no difference in your judgement, but I chose that answer, and I'll explain why, as it's quite simple: the main reason I keep playing the game, is to keep playing the game, ie make my character more powerful/rich/etc. In any video game where such things are possible, people generally want to do so...
and this is why people people buy accounts on MMORPGs. the people who sit around all day playing the game need SOME money, or at least it's nice, and the people who work dont have time to sit around all day leveling a character to the point where it's alot of fun. too bad MMORPG sweatshops exist:(
If you want to steal a card, you have to ask for the code (still better than to be asked for your thumb, btw).
This touches on what has been troubling me. If a fingerprint is needed to access card data, then it won't be long before people start losing thumbs and money... at least the former.
The future of P2P clearly involves strong encryption, and is also likely to employ some "invite-only" attributes. That future software is here today; all that is lacking is the user base.
Yup. Like Waste. Although it is lacking in many ways and needs more development, it's open source so many things are possible.
Blaster Master kicked ass. Not that I took your comment as a flame, but I do know that all of the games I mentioned have had sequels or were made on more than one system while I only linked/mentioned one each. However, none of these have been very recently and most weren't even as good as the originals (although I've not played Pirates! 2 so I can't comment there).
this review of the CD-32 version: "You are a pirate (of course). The object of this
game is to retire with high social standing, having amassed a large
fortune. How do you do this? To acquire wealth, you sack towns and other
ships, and search for buried treasure. To acquire social standing, you play
the game of politics with the governments in the game (England, France,
Holland, and Spain). This might involve getting married to a governor's
daughter, doing missions for the government, and attacking that government's
enemies."
"Immediately after Kid Icarus' debut alongside Metroid, the two games were about equally popular, but gradually Metroid began to pull ahead. NES players clamored for sequels to both games, but Nintendo strangely left both series stagnant for years, finally resurrecting them on the original Game Boy of all places. Kid Icarus: Of Myth and Monsters on the Game Boy was a respectable outing for Pit, but sadly it was to be his last. Metroid, of course, went on for further sequels on the SNES, GBA, and GameCube. Additional Kid Icarus installments have never appeared despite persistent rumors to the contrary. One wonders why Nintendo doesn't make another KI sequel in this age of remakes and rehashes. Certainly there are plenty of people who'd welcome a return to Angel Land. But until a new sequel emerges, we'll have to content ourselves with halcyon memories of this wacky place, forever filled with plucky angels and evil eggplants."
"Jason had a pet frog named Fred. One morning Fred started to jump around in his fish bowl and was making a lot of noise. Jason woke up and took Fred out to see if he was ok, but when he did, Fred made a dash for the door. Jason chased after his pet. Fred was on the move, he was heading for the swamps, once out there he saw a huge radioactive chest. As Fred got closer and eventually jumped on it, he started to change, he was getting bigger. It didn't take long before Fred and the chest both fell through the earth. Jason, wanting to get his pet, jumped in after him. When Jason landed he found himself. alone, next to a huge armoured vehicle.
As Jason looked over the car-like-tank a girl stepped out with long red hair and a freckled face. She said her name was Yvtrkizj, her Earth name was Eve and that she was from a planet called Signar-el. Eve gave him a radioactive protection suit and invited him into the tank. She told him the name of the vehicle was SOPHIA The 3rd: NORA MA-01. She told him about the Plutonium Boss, and what he had done to her home planet.
He lived underground, growing more powerful with the peoples wastes. Once he had grown powerful enough, he attacked the people, and destroyed them, but with them gone, his source of food was decreasing. He set out from the planet in search of another, and found Earth. Eve had taken the last of her planets weapons, SOPHIA The 3rd, and came to try and destroy the Plutonium Boss before he could destroy Earth.
This wasn't just about getting his pet frog, Fred, back anymore, this was about saving the Earth. Jason set out on a journey to save Earth from certain doom."
"The Striders are a global organization of infiltration specialists who work to combat villainy and keep the world safe. From their orbital space station, the Blue Dragon, they are able to quickly reach anywhere in the world.
Hiryu is one of the top striders. He is given the task by Vice-Director Matic, of finding another captured strider, Kain. But rather than mount a rescue, Hiryu is told his assignment is to kill

""The reason they're silent is because if they stick their head up, they tend to get shot by a bunch of Linux people," McBride said."
"As SCO's legal strategy unfolded, its Website was repeatedly attacked and brought down by hackers, presumably of the Linux variety, McBride claims. And SCO executives have even taken to traveling with bodyguards, a necessary measure, they say, given numerous death threats."
Like Sexy Pants said here "...though this looks like an obvious bomb, I want to support them all the way."
Nintendo has always seemed to me to have the most innovative (not necessarily original) products of any console company and I've been a supporter since I picked up the first issue of Nintendo Power magazine (which IMHO sucks now). I had a Virtual Boy. It was fun, but there weren't many games available, and of course only some of the games were fun. I remember loving Mario Tennis. Maybe I'll buy one of these, but I doubt it. I've done my part in this lot by talking my parents into buying me a Virtual Boy. For me to consider purchasing a DS, I'll at least have to see some good games released, and some sort of acceptance from the gaming public in the form of them buying the damned thing. >
We've already been discussing all of this in the thread linked above, but the technical specs released give me a little hope. The fact that it's backlit is a huge plus, every frontlit device reminds me of the 3rd party clip on light I had for my original Game Boy... such crap. I also like the idea of the screens being in a vertical positio. I was having trouble imagining cool possibilities horizontally: with this being a handheld device, and presumably folding in some way as it's meant to be small, I was imagining a screen folding out horizontally and it was obviously a very awkward idea. I'm dissapointed that Nintendo didn't mention, as the article points out, "...the clock speed of either CPU, however, which would provide a clearer picture of the system's processing power and battery consumption." That would be nice to know:D
This MAY turn out to be a fun system and/or commercial success, most likely it will flop, but it's certainly a cool idea, and my hat goes off to Nintendo for another innovation. Actually I lost my hat- proves my worthlessness, mod appropriately.
While this may be true for your run of the mill games, Massively Multiplayer games that require a subscription fee are a different animal. I have a hard time justifying to myself why I should pay $50 for a game that I have to pay $12.99 a month to use.
Thankfully, a number of companies have realized this. For example, you can download the demo for "Earth and Beyond" from EA, and play the full game for free for 14 days. Then, if you like it, you can buy a new CD key for $14.99 that will upgrade your demo to the full version (and cover your first month's subscription). No, you don't get a box, or a manual, or a physical CD, but you also don't get to pay $50 for a game that you don't really own in the first place.
I've been playing Project Entropia for quite some time now. It's a MMORPG that can only be obtained via a free download. The catch is that you can insert or withdraw real money for the game, at an exchange rate of about $10us/100PED(Project Entropia Dollars), and you need money ingame to buy items. Your character can hunt, mine, craft items, trade items, or a number of other things to earn more PEDs once you have a good start. Every now and then you may need to insert more money to keep playing, which reminds me of a subscription. There are ways to make PEDs starting with nothing, but most (other than getting a loan from another player) are tedious and are only good for people just checking out the game, or to get a bit of funds saved up to buy items which you can resell for a profit.
This game is obviously dependent on the fact that it can be downloaded for free; it's part of the sales pitch.
Unless it's mandated by law, what reason do the ISPs have to do all of that work for free?
Exactly. For a moment I wondered why ISPs would stick up for customers, and then I realized that of course most won't. As soon as it is "good business," to shit on consumers, I'm sure they will. Excuses and rationalizations will need to be made for that to happen of course, then again we've all seen such things before.
But in real life, killing isn't that important - hit someone pretty much anywhere and they're unable to continue fighting. Games don't have such accurate damage modelling, so you compensate by killing players that would "only" be seriously wounded in reality.
Point well taken, and until such accurate damage modelling is developed, this will have to do. I'm just saying, "I always wished..."
This is just weird. Is this the next Virtual Boy? Will it fit in a pocket? I guess we'll get to see.
Funny I had a Virtual Boy when they were released, and I was just thinking the same thing. Gotta give it to Nintendo for being somewhat innovative though, maybe I'm just biased since they've been my favorite console company for quite some time.
Like I said I'm not concerned with the fuss being made over it in regard to MY finding it to be in bad taste. If it's just a gang, why not call it the Latin Kings or something? Or base the name off a real gang anyways.. I mean really what if it was "Kill the Blacks!!" and gangs of "Blacks" walked around and were labeled as such..
Innacurate portrayals? You're going to tell me that no Cuban has ever been involved in gang violence? Or that no Italians have ever been involved in organized crime? Or that no white people ever beat slaves?
When ALL the Haitians in the game are gang members, or ALL the Italians act like mobsters, etc. yes this is saying exactly that..
What about the portrayal of Cubans in GTA: VC and what about the portrayal of Italians in GTA III? What about the portrayal of Russians in your average Bond movie? What about the portrayal of white people in the miniseries Roots?
All of these are examples of innacurate portrayls based on stereotypes, and/or attempting to further stereotypes, and are generally in bad taste. Again, legality is another question.
Both are frustrated politicians - Silver, a former state legislator, and Thompson, a failed Miami-Dade County state attorney candidate. Both love the limelight, take cases that are destined to make headlines and are famous for publicity stunts."
And there you have it. This will get them attention, name recognition, and a number of supporters in the right, oh and it will save children from bad parenting... or not. I think political games should be banned, wish I could afford to win that suit...
Aside: I do think the portrayal of Haitians in GTA:Vice City is quite unecessary and in bad taste, even in the context of the game. Whether or not this should be legally relevant is another post.
Those numbers do seem a little skewed.. I work part-time on a project basis with an opinion research firm, and I know that sampling is done very carefully in order to get accurate results. I also know that if the people doing the research are biased, the results can follow.

Having worked in several telemarketing positions: the BEST thing you can do is just hang up on them. It saves both people time and energy.
it looks like a spider to me. more than a dragon anyhow.

lack of man to man sword fights
:\
:D
damn that's part of why it was so cool though
i thought the sword fights were great because it gave even more variety in gameplay, plus swordfighting is always good
They can probably alleviate some finacial pressure by selling the information orkut gathers to their NSA and other fed buddies..

Agreed. Now THIS is funny:
