Kinda sucks that HP won't sell me one but lots of people on ebay seem happy too;) I never could figure out which new printer was any good so i just stuck with the one that made it 600,000 pages so far.
Not so sure the whole seperation of consumer vs business is the best idea. Otherwise someone like me in IT may buy one of those cheap HP inkjets and find out it sounds like it will self destruct any second out of the box. I have never HEARD anything sound so cheap..... Hardly inspires me to order a bunch of bigger HP stuff for the office. Twice as loud and slower and a excessive margin compared to the old epson but might do better on ink.
heh, i would have actually settled for this to find out something about where the mails come from. There is a small chance that someone has a botted box between 2 offices and a bunch of home users.
No luck, not one reply from a real person. A zillion bounce back messages and a slew of automated messages. None of the messages give any of the original info. The one bounceback was especially nice tho, explaining the faking of headers, and apologizing for sending more crap but it just couldn't be sure if it was real or not.
Presumably there would be a shield to protect the ship also. Big bubble, little bubble. How to get plasma between them is up to the reader;)
I am lost trying to imagine it. Can you make a nice round magnetic field to surround a ship. I thought magnetic fields like a kinda bone-shape seemingly leaving the middle fairly exposed.
How one makes a huge magnetic charged field and keep the ship/components from being affected is beyond me too;)
Oh well, i plan to build a supersonic flying car. This article is just about as useful as my statement;)
hehe was actually planning on setting one up this way.
But, yes, the B-drive went away some time ago. No idea why they stopped supporting 2, they still have a connector/controller for one so they can't be saving anything.
The ones that only recognize one drive will recognize the old floppy-based tape drives given the 'right' drivers and programs (that they took out of windows XP) Hehe, impressed myself by getting the old tape to work under winXP then I (me myself and I, not MS) decided it wasn't needed;)
One of my favorites was our previous accounting system.
After selecting to do End-Of-Month it would first give a pop-up: Allocations not selected, do you wish to select allocations? Y/N No ends program Yes gives another pop-up:
Selecting allocations Continue? Y/N again, No pretty much ends it all Yes gives another charming pop-up:
No allocations to select, do you wish to continue? Y/N
argh....Got old every month for years.... and i think i missed pop-up in there:(
Another nice feature was selecting a module would prompt you for the date defaulted to today and Y/N buttons. YES would set the date to today and enter that module, while NO would set the date to today and enter that module....... funny for a few times. not so much after a thousand times. Took them years to add a default to assume it is today! (the default was to not give a date box and assume last date entered, so you have to manually select to change date each day for each module, two more steps than the useless pop-ups and not useable in real-life)
Our current program is too annoying to even mention. Perhaps remembering what check number i am on is somehow hard on the computer. Maybe we could have the ablilty to scroll a list backwards like i have been doing even in DOS for 20 years or so:/
I am sure the fact that it is a 2600 acre campus with 26,000 students has nothing to do with it. That sounds like a fair bit to 'secure' to me.
I was going to say that the army can't secure a town that size what can you do with a couple patrol cars and some campus cops... BUT according to Google maps, Iraq has NO towns so i can't find one to compare to. WTF even on the map setting only with no satelite there are no towns listed.
If even the teachers are blocked what is stopping them from copying or paraphrasing from wikipedia and then cite a fake source the teacher can't easily check.
And like others said it IS a good start point and usually has several other references listed. I suppose it would be better to GOOGLE for some references ?!?! How can it be any worse than the card catalog at the library, those certainly were not guarenteed to be credible, you had to determine that on your own.....just like you should with what the wiki says....
Maybe they can dumb it down a bit more and predefine the sources and the data and see if everyone can correctly copy the page number for the reference footnote.
Unless it is a source more likely than not to give bad info ii can't see blocking it like that. Perhaps a lesson on primary and secondary sources, etc.
Even then i could quote from several prestigous peer-reviewed journels that had bad info at some point.
Now if we can convince/. (and others) that a blog is NOT an authoritative source of stories........
But there is SOMEONE performing them, dont they get paid ALSO ??
If that is the people that did the rearrangement so be it, but i bet they have a copyright on their performance. How they get paid for it is the question. Maybe on a per piece basis like others would, or they included it in other costs, or?
How much music is NOT a cover piece? Hell, half of what i hear is a remake from 70-80's or something that was probably a cover of a 60's song....etc
Up here one of the popular formats seems to be classic rock. At least 3 stations vs only 1 or 2 pop stations.
However, at least 2 of the 3 (i just started listening to #3) slip in a fair amount of newer stuff including fresh releases. Especially the "80's,90's, and whatever" station. Intially "whatever" seemed to be 70's, increasingly it is 2006-2007.....
Getting annoying, that and i want to strangle them for their ad: What playlist...we don't need no playlist. BS, would you like me to recite your play list for you. It is just as regimented as any other station:( 1000's of songs in no particular order...yeah right. You give em 3 decades of music to work with should get more than 50 songs a month on their non-existant playlist.
I don't mind being introduced to new stuff on radio that way per se, but they are just as repetitive as on a pop station. I don't want the SAME 3 new songs every day. Not to mention, they don't say WHO is playing. What good is a new song if i don't know who is playing it so i can get it?? I guess i could walk into a record store and ask based on lyrics....oh wait....
On the up side, the harder classic rock station plays an album each night:)
"I kept trying to fast-forward through them, but it wouldn't work.... and the show doesn't pause when they get up to go to the restroom."
lol, you are not using the new tech right. It automaticly pauses so you CAN get up and go to the bathroom. Network execs just have really really small bladders and assume everyone else does too....
Can we throw Vonage boxes at the pumped verizon dude? Of course that would probably be the lead-in to a Head-on commercial:(
Dr Who has been known to pop into Dereth (Asheron's Call) very rarely. Unknown if he is still able to reach it. The Tardis was a very rare spawn on the landscape at one point at least. Unable to actually uncover at will so kinda half an egg;)
Yup, i just happened to look the other day and was surprised to find out it weighs a fair bit more than my old Opel Manta. Silly thing weighs as much as any other car, one model was around 2600 lb I think. My 30-year old Opel is a several feet longer with several times the trunk space and comes in well under 2500 lb. And i could shave off another 100lb or more with a newer engine, there is a LOT of steel for only 100HP.
With the 'required' features nowadays i suppose it takes a few hundred pounds. How much power crap do they put on a Mini?
I'll chime in and say it looked fine on my system, the gray (top line and # in parenthesis) is a just little hard to read. The white and green text looked fine. Win98 and firefox 1.5 and IE6 was identical (but slashdot looks a little odd...hehe)
After a quick ebay scan i'll have agree. There appears to be 1000+ laptops well under $200 including 1Ghz with windows and wifi.
Unless they sell the cheesy one with the pull-thingie as a novelty it doesn't seem like competing against Ebay on one end and Dell on the other would be too easy.
My last laptop cost $25...hehe 486 i needed for a database project.
Why do i get a picture of the label being one line for name of game and a page of licensing/trademark info:O
This will be followed closely (and trying desparately to catch up) by the sequel featuring the characters that got left out: Licensing runs amuck: The second chance races.
Ok, does sound like fun if it works...but so have lots of games.
Well, since the GP didn't mention price I'll agree with a local ISP on DSL.
However i pay probably $20 extra not to have qwest or comcast. The tech support however is usually the guy that configures the routers and at least some of the money stays here:)
Too bad, i always heard good things about speakeasy. Surely that will change soon, i think it is against Best Buy policy or something...
Assuming, of course you are big enough for any experts to give a damn.
But that was a given I suppose since we are assembling a team:( I would like to know what us cowboys should be doing....
Preserve what? No one is gonna care who stole what from us. Hell, someone stole a few grand worth of actual merchendise and we had the who and the where and noone gave a damn then. Even if we decided to spend all our money to find out who...then what? Odds are they are offshore anyways and noone could do anything even if they wanted to for some reason.
Actually it just sounds like a money grab by this ICM company.
They still insist it is voluntary, so it does nothing to help keep it out. Tempting to add just to spite the idiotic rightwing arguement that with.com AND.xxx there would now be twice as much porn tho:O So i guess i disagreement with both arguements against it and am still against it....
They think these sites will rate themselves and need to spend more than a current.com registration to ensure compliance ?!? WTF, Putting up a.xxx and then say in ratings you have no nudity would seem kinda suicidal for a site. Why does ICM need money to insure against child porn, why would someone under this new label suddenly be more likely to have it up and require a new private cop to find as opposed to it being hidden among the zillion or so.com and others?
My choice would be to simply make.xxx available like.com.net etc. but without the overinflated fees for this ICM
huh, i always buy HP.....laserjet 5 all the way.
;) I never could figure out which new printer was any good so i just stuck with the one that made it 600,000 pages so far.

/. editors will soon be appearing on: Are you smarter than a fifth grader?
They are letting us know that nothing has gotten better in the last 22 hours..........
C'mon guys at least read the front page (and the little box in the corner where it clearly shows the c- story, it even has c- in headline)
I wonder if any of the

I lost all hope in the future after finding we need P4 HT computers to emulate a dumb terminal under windows now
