After riding a Segway, I didn't think the user interface was that great. It consisted of a little button and Mac-like, LCD "face" icon which smiled or frowned. IMHO a gage showing power remaining would have been much better.
The gyroscope balancing was awesome, but to lean forwards and backwards on it took some time to get used to. I was afraid that I would tip it over, because standing on a two-wheeled machine is just wild. Except my thoughts on the display, it was pretty incredible.
I use both Mozilla and Opera at work, and Opera exclusively on my gentoo box at home. Opera is definitely quicker in one of the most important parts of browsing, IMHO -- moving back and forth between loaded pages.
Now I realize that you can increase the cache in Mozilla (which I have done), but I've never had to mess with the settings in Opera.
It does need an option to kill popups that you didn't request, though...Maybe in the next version.
Oh, and does anybody know if you get a free upgrade to 7?
...AMD 1Ghz processors in a span of two weeks trying to overclock them using water cooling. (The UPS is only so fast.) The water dripping on his mobo was an added bonus.
It's cheaper just to pay more for a faster chip, IMHO.
I've had problems with this. It was solved by not installing the OS with my cdrw drive. Try booting the cdrom from a regular drive... This worked on two computers.
In 1998, I "forced" my family to go to the IMAX in Scottsdale to see a movie called, Special Effects. Mainly, of course, just to watch the opening scene of Star Wars (Leia's ship being attacked...) redone for the IMAX format.
They showed the original opening of the film in 2.35:1 complete with the black bars* and then followed it up with the IMAX version. Needless to say, it was much better. The whole screen was filled and the quality was great. Also, I think the sound was remixed for their sound systems (which are quite good).
Sign me up for SW and LotR...
*It's been awhile, but I'm almost positive they showed the original before the IMAX version...
On the rare occassion that I'm watching TV, the only commercials I look forward to are TV Land's Retromercials. I mean, let's face it, some of these commercials could be used for the current product they are trying to sell, like waffle syrup. How is Mrs. Butterworth's gonna get better?
I agree that most commercials are terrible. The only memorable commericals that stick in my mind are those Snicker's commercials where the football guy thinks he's Batman. Oh, and ALL the SNL commercials...they rule. Where can I buy a box of Quarry? "Better tasting 'cause it's mined."
Those Mature Content stickers are everywhere... who notices those anymore?
They should be forced to print something like "This CD WILL NOT PLAY in a computer" all over that plastic wrap and associated sticker. So while they are trying like mad to open the CD, they'll at least read what's all over it.

Played with final VS.NET over past two days...

Visual Studio - Enterprise Architect. Sounds like I need my PE.
erm..anyhow..
The past two days at work, I have been using that version of VS which comes with this month's MSDN subscription.
Most of the time I have been trying to figure out what happened to their data access...It used to be quite simple to hook up some data to a grid or control, but - jeez - I still haven't figured out how to do it simply, and I have built my own data provider controls before so I figure it shouldn't be this difficult.
As one poster mentioned, the compilation and execution of just a simple 'ello World program, with one form and button each took a couple seconds.
I tried out the WebForms for their new ASP.NET, no doubt this stems from experience in the last ASP, but it didn't seem intuitive to me. In fact, I could probably port existing ASP to PHP in a quicker fashion... On a side note, however, I attended a conference where they claimed to be running this on Apache instead of IIS.
I am not too impressed right now with this product... IMHO the best part about the product is the new VISIO. You can do database modeling/reverse engineering and it will generate the scripts, etc like ERWIN or Embarcadero.
I doubt we use this product for awhile at work, if ever.
thanks!

I find that the easiest surround sound is a nice pair of Sennheisers.
No need to fool with encoding and tricking your dvd player!

I think they meant to say: like a Happy Fun Ball loose.
May suddenly accelerate to dangerous speeds..
Do NOT taunt Happy Fun Ball.
It'd be easier to just not wear the blasted thing in the first place...
I'd much rather have..

Since I didn't see any posts for flight simulators, why not try X-Plane.
It uses OpenGL and runs on Windows, Mac, (OSX by Christmas) -- Linux port upcoming, and although I haven't tried, it supposedly can run with WINE.
There is also a great online community where one can get new planes, scenery, and utilities.
Oh and once you get it, feel free to land at my grandparent's airstrip - ID NA61. ;-)
