Personally, I think it's worth 80gb to have a certain percent of the web's content load instantly (and hopefully check for a new version of the page in the background afterward).
You forgot about families. My family of four shares a Netflix account. I don't watch every movie that comes by, but someone does. The throttles are a bit of a hassle for this type of usage, but all in all it's working quite well for us.
1. Set free space-resistant lichen on uninhabited nearby planet.
2. Wait several million years.
2. Return, explain the situation, and be worshipped as gods!

perhaps not everyone at pixar was feeling particularly entrepreneurial. happy people with happy, secure jobs tend to be somewhat risk-adverse when it comes to striking out on their own.
I'd like to second this. I wasted quite a bit of my time searching for a bluetooth trackball for my media center computer. A mouse, even a wireless one, just doesn't work quite right on a coffee table.
you know what you're paying for? the cost of creating and delivering the product, plus a little extra. if bandwidth costs them more to distribute the product, the product is going to cost more accordingly. uploading is acting in your own interest*, and it is supporting the company that you hope can afford to provide you with cool shit in the future.
*assuming you're on a connection where unused bandwidth is "wasted", not paying $/byte.
