I own an HDTV. Sorry everyone.

But you're so right - what do I want? Some half assed BR-DVD player, or a full featured *dedicated* player?

My answer is neither. I have no interest in getting HD-DVD's until the market sorts out the technology.

The PS2 and it's DVD abilities were certainly a boon to the DVD market - of course! You got a game machine and a DVD player for $350 (I forget the exact launch price). Now, this same model is being applied to a technology where only something like 1 in 20 people can really use.

Although, you know people will get it so they can watch "teh high def" on thier '92 Zenith.

I totally agree that Nintendo is focused on making family friendly games. I think that they are open to other developers making M rated games for thier systems - however the perception of the consumer market is: Nintendo is for kids.

This is a vicious circle where people don't buy a system because there are no adult games and publishers don't release adult games for Nintendo system since the "right" people don't own the system in the first place.

That list is interesting - only 2 games not published by Nintendo on the list... (well, I think so anyway - Madden and WWE for sure, don't know about all of the others). I'm shocked that the upcoming Mario side-scroller for the DS didn't make the cut.

While I agree with you that diet is required for an overweight person to "see" results from the gym, I disagree that it's difficult to increase muscle mass. I'd argue that a reasonably active fat person would increase in strength faster than a thin person - simply because moving themselves around requires more effort. (I say reasonably active because some fat people have virtually no muscle mass due to complete inactivity).

I hope for Nintendo that this isn't a case of, "Oooh sounds great!" but in practice, not that many people are interested."

I understand what you're saying, however I think there is a big difference between GameTap and a console with similar abilities.

GameTap is a service offering only old content that can easily be obtained for free.

With Nintendo, you have already purchased a new system for playing new games. The ability to serve up some classics is a bonus.
