Well, we wouldn't necessarily know if we had been "nano-invaded". The sensors could even be disguised as small bugs with sufficient technology. Hmm always thought these ants where too clever... runs out on an ant-hunt
I guess in situations like these virtual properties, like ones in MMORPGS or a licence to download hl2 again, or other steam games(or similar systems) can really be of more value, since you don't lose it if everything in your city even, gets destroyed.
whats wrong with you people, I liked sky captain and the world of tomorrow, sure it isn't a great movie but a good adventure/action film in my opinion and didn't regret the money I spent on it.
I think part of the problem are the viewers that cant enjoy a movie even if its flawed, not perfect nor a great movie.
I must agree though that most of these game movies are bad, although I enjoyed most of them a bit if we exclude doom... didn't like it one bit, except perhaps that fps scene was funny. They wrecked the whole thing, and yeah turned it into resident evil in space... and resident evil movie not the game.
About resident evil movie -
A thing I think they totally failed to do is to create that spooky atmosphere that was created in the game, people disappearing, learning slowly what happened and lots of chills down spines.
The resident evil movie was just a pure splatter, a part that I kinda enjoyed but most likely not as much if they had stuck closer to the game.
Just so you don't blow me off for bad taste in movies, then my favorite movies include these- in no particular order- Oldboy, A.I. Matrix, Kill bill , Requiem for a dream, donnie darko, butterfly effect, Cypher. These are the more recent ones at least that I like alot so well, im gonna stop babbling now.
- Is this a sig?
They aren't hackers. They can't even claim to be crackers. They run a kit with as little thought to how it works as an Excel user thinks about the math and programming behind the interface. It's just a tool to them.
Actually you can make UDP reliable multicasting (at least much more so) with using buffering and traditional NACKS( negative acknowledgements) to request a resend of lost packet, this part can be optimized with requesting that lost packet from another client and thus merging this with p2p, but that isn't necesserily needed.
Most streaming media (expecially video) will withstand some packetlosses however as long as keyframes aren't lost(there are ways to make sure they don't or at least reduce the chances of that happening by alot). May I also remind you that TV digital or not is not 100% accurate as it is and is in most cases not needed unless the case is you want to buy something online and own it in which case you will want to have it in perfect shape.
That being said then P2P could help with that portion of media distributions, and we can see companies like blizzard starting to use P2P to answer the insane demand for every update and patch they make for WOW.
It's a kind of backdoor way to get laws passed in your country that would otherwise be unacceptable to the populace. The Bush Administration (maybe Clinton did it to, I dunno) is the most recent example I can think of.
They encouraged restrictive European laws that would never have flown in the U.S. of A. and once they were passed in Europe, U.S. law had to be "harmonized".
I think you are forgetting your patriot act, which got passed in the U.S. Those laws are pretty restrictive in every sense and restrict freedom and human rights far beyond that these laws do. They got passed "through the backdoor of terrorism" or more precisely the threat of it.
These laws might have actually inspired these, since one of the arguments that could be used with this is to ease the track of terrorist activity.
The NSA operate the echelon spy network http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EcheloN/ which does far more than just keeping logs for going through if something happens.
That said I highly disagree with these kinds of laws, and the minister of justice here in iceland is pushing for similar laws, and might actually getting through. You are right about one thing though, once such laws get passed in one or more western nation (expecially european one) it will greatly increase the odds of similar laws passing elsewhere and since the european union is rather large I fear the influence alot.
Just remember, we will get all kinds of bad and stupid laws if we don
t get our voices heard.
3 things made me fall in love with the pod, huge storage, UI and how small it was compared to that (have a 4th gen).
The user interface is definetly impressive and since the wheel is patented and yet so utterly better and feels more right than a button driven interface. In light of that I really don't see any players getting bigger than Ipods in the near future, until well maybe someone indroduces an even smarter interface, like thought control:)
"This OSX virus works on the honor system.
Please delete random files on your hard disk, then forward this message to everyone you know. Thank you for your cooperation."
And yeah I heard that there were some macro viruses that worked only in microsoft office on OSX:)
If the internet is a world without walls or fences, why do we need windows or gates?
One of the reasons LCDs can't completely replace CRTs in graphics is because they use sRGB a subsystem og RGB so they can't display the same color range a good CRT can, now they have been getting closer to that but I have not seen a LCD that can completely match that. One thing I find to make LCD screens alot better though is a glass in front of the LCD.
I saw this idea in a weapon in eraser, which came out somewhat earlier than red faction. It was a railgun with seethrougheverythingexceptrefrigarotdoors capabilities.

I would think that just converting mp3 into wma is a generally bad idea, since the sound is guaranteed only to get worse, as things most often do when converting from a lossy compression to another.

Not sure if that was ment to be a joke or not, extreme technoloving or just ignorant, at any rate that thing is basicly a variation of a median filter, and some extra stuff for the animation screensaver, not much Van Gogh about it.
Although I must say, well I think its likely that computers can help in winemaking like in most other places, just full automation isn't perhaps the way... yet at least.
Well you seem to forget that most of the distros are really a selective collection of software (along with some other things) and if you would have only one distribution, with one variation, the distro would be around 20GiB or so, or the installer would have to download the stuff you want during installation, which well is a bit problem phrone for big installations, and of course the installer would be insanely complex.
If it ain't broke... improve it
This was just a reference to "all your base are belong to us", a joke that you might possibly get if you'd look at that wikipedia article its funny its a really bad translation. Also very connected is the fraze "They set us up the bomb"
Those of you who used un-modified are already running an ad-suppert microsoft application called MSN messenger, I find those flashy pics so disturbing I found out how to remove this at once, so I guess I wouldn't use Ad-supported windows for very long without getting terribly annoyed, unless perhaps the ads would be less distracting.
I feel sorry for you who live in the UK, especially after that ADSL disaster .
I live in Iceland and we already have digital tv although we are not up to HDTV quality yet, but its better than analog for most (some people just have continuing problem with it due to all sorts of things). Digital TV has its pluses and minuses, the pluses are the picture can be much clearer, and the analog bugs are non-existant, like ghosts, static, lines and other kinds of interfierance, but the digital bugs that happen if the signal is to weak(or to strong) are far worse than the analog bug, since its usually compressed in someway the picture can become like a jig-saw puzzle for few seconds, or the picture goes just completely out for a few secs. Instead of some extra weird line in regular analog.
Im not sure where im going with this so Ill end this with these words: Digital definetly is the future and is better (when it works right).

You are very right with good graphics dont make a good game. But it is with graphics as it is With guns in "guns dont kill people, people kill people".. They help:)
I play old games once in a while if they are good enough, to outway the aging of graphics, but I must say old games with good voice acting hold up the best imo.
I havent played a text adventure for a long time, but maybe Ill give it a try, after all, good books are more immersing than any form of storytelling so far and they are only plain text.
Heh I was convinced that this was an april fools joke or just some sort of joke, Guess I have to look deeply into how this really works, That flash animation didnt help much, except well it seemed even more silly after that.
