I hope this is a sign that the fad is fading. The next step will to hopefully see a decline in amateurs playing in the World Series of Poker. Just because anyone can enter it if they have the cash doesn't mean they should.
I'm very suprised at how many of you so quickly forget that this service is in beta, and has only been in beta for a week at that. Wait until a product is actually released before complaining about missing features.

I read the escapist article as well and I think the author was really trying to point out how the general public is only ruining things for themselves. When all the Nintendo bashers finally have their way they will be left with generic FPS, madden and GTA 10000. I thought it was a good article in that it showed how sad things have become...people care more about pretty colors and shiny textures these days. I'm glad Nintendo takes chances and is constantly coming up with fresh ideas. Of course Nintendo makes more money in this business than Sony or Microsoft so I don't see them going anywhere anytime soon.
Hearing this news makes today one of my top 10 best days ever. Nothing like coming home from school as a kid and watching those along with ninja turtles and G.I. Joe. What a lineup. Can't wait to get this.
What does land value in Japan vs. United States have to do with game console prices? Last I checked we don't get 10 free acres with every PS3 purchase.

If you had even read the summary from the OP you would of saw that the thing thats new about it is the fact that they are mixing NPCs and PC's together in the arena. So yes it is different from other arena PvP implementations.
If anything this will hurt sales of Halo 3. It's hard to believe that people are going to say "Hey! Why should I buy this new system by a hugely successful company when I can get the new XBox since the new version of the only game that keeps Microsoft afloat in the console market came out today."
Actually many developers use OpenGL for the 3D code instead of Direct3D in PC games. DirectX is usually used for sound, input, etc. So considering how many games are 3D, i'm not sure having DirectX support is such a wonderful thing. By the way, the Gamecube is much easier to develop for than the PS2.
They dont need killer apps anymore. There are so many fanboys for all the systems that it really doesn't matter what they do. These people will love and support them.
I do not feel bad at all for the guys that were involved in making Rogue Agent. That was one of the worst FPS's i've ever played. A complete insult to the original game.
You're not alone. I am a loyal PA reader as well and this series falls into the same category as Twisp and Catsby for me. I strongly dislike both of them.

The PSP isn't even in the same league as the DS. Right now the DS doesn't haven anything to compete with except the SP. Either way Nintendo wins.
Sony can't win this fight by making their system more powerful and pumping out hundreds of crap games like it can with the PS2. The handheld market just doesn't work that way, never has.

Last I checked when a company makes a game for more than one system it is to increase profits. You can't expect any 3rd party developer to limit themselves to one system forever.
But the whole point is that having the popular vote will put the candidate in office who has the most support by the American people. What's wrong with the person who got the most votes winning the election?
And of course you're not going to find a polititian who wants to get rid of it...I never said there was or that i'd vote for him.
But yes...it is your right to play their game, just don't try to get me to play it too.
What problems do you think having a popular vote system would introduce? I honestly cannot think of any negative aspect of making the system a fair one across the board.

They get rid of the electoral college bullshit.
My vote currently doesn't mean as much as people in other states...and that's the bottom line.
They need to take a raw count of votes so that everyone's vote will have the same weight.
Maybe they should focus on that instead of these ridiculous "Rock the Vote" type things.
