Please wake me up when you can buy an AMD based Dell till then this story should be given a chance to die gracefully along with Phantom and other such stories to give new stories/rumours a chance for example:
iPod to be scrapped by Apple for new brain based implant or: Microsoft officially gives up and open sources Windows or: *insert random open source program* says it will be able to pwn with *insert random uber cool feature that no one does yet but has yet to be implemented by said open source program*
I don't want to sound like too much of a fanboy, but what can these consoles really give me that my PC can't? I'd rather have a console thats sole focus isn't trying to outpace my PC in terms of graphics... but to push the limits with new controllers, unique games and not costing me my 1st born child or my left arm to acquire.
Your missing the point just wants to sell more of these then the PS3/Revolution - profit will follow later... (Think of how Dell is more then willing to sacrafice a few $$$ upfront to gain more market share later) Microsoft may be all evil on/. but they do know how to run a business, and if it takes them losing a bunch of one of their golden egg laying gooses (a few Windows sales) in order to make a new golden egg laying goose (called the XBOX ???) so be it.
As for DRM that's to discuss when this article gets duped;)
I agree, an annoyance has to go, but a regular ad has some potential to be interesting so I will let them go by...
Without any ads at all how do you really expect to find out about any new products to be honest? I wouldn't have found thinkgeek without an add on slashdot, nor would have anybody I know would have seen some xyz product we all see and use regularly.
The point isn't to block ads altogether, but I see it as to block the ads (mostly popups, and some flash) that force you into unwillingly participate instead of passively letting you decide if going any farther is worth while.
Why does MS want to kill google? It is very simple actually - one because they are there, and two everyone needs a rival to go up against.
We all know Microsoft is starting to lack focus and vision. As it stands they are more of a copy-cat then innovator, so what they are trying to do is get their employees focused on someone as the "other side of the force" persay so that there slowly becomes a new objective out there - even if it is "Kill Google" its still better then "be the best in abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwyz, and at the same time kill, Google, Yahoo, Apple, AOL, Linux, Current flavour of the month"
See the title. Plain and simple when they are put in an e-paper format I can see them being useful but till then they will be more a novelty or not as useful as paper (because of DRM)
Think of it more as "old people" have a preference to use E-mail over IM considering that they are probably at work it makes sense, considering the majority of communication has to be documented not just casual...
On the other hand it could have extended to the "very old people" who prefer the phone or letters, but then again it does not mean they are not going to use IM or Email at all.
Thing you have to remeber is though alot of asian students come to the US to get an education, and a decent portion of them remain in North America. Abit jobs are moving but till the Head Offices start moving (and the premium some investors are willing to put on North Americain innovation) I doubt to see the US falling off the map that fast...
Although that whole think of 3/4 of a trillion dollars a year in export/import deficit will bound to speed things up but thats another story...
SirChris: After using Yahoo, google, ask.com, etc.. to no avail, all I need to know is what currency uses £ as their symbol. I need to convert £189.00 into english dollars.
