For the most part your statement has been true with the Xbox and Xbox Live. As far as Halo 2 goes, you will be able to purchase all of the new multiplayer maps along with a documentary, a cinematic extra, all of the updates released so far, and some unannounced extras for around $19.95. The disc is supposed to release the same time as the maps are avalible for download on Xbox live...AND, if you want to get them on Xbox Live as soon as they are avalible I believe you will have to pay extra cash in addition to your Xbox Live subscription. By end of summer the new maps will be free for Xbox Live players.

I'm proud to annouce, in this particular case, you are not SOL...although in every other instance of new content on the Xbox thus far, you would be SOL.

If the information is valid you can just go by the first three columns

    Location: 400 - HOLMDEL NJ

That seems easy enough to me. I've never worked in retail but if the total on hand is more than the available on hand couldn't it be exchanges for units without dead pixels/broken/etc?

Where are you getting the date of the order? I posted 3/30/2005 because that was when the message was posted. I think it's current information and has nothing to do with an incomming batch.

...and I didn't say I had "anything" at all. I was just sharing what seemed to be legit info (in my opinion, I just thought it was a tad more creative than the average gamefaqs poster could come up on his own)

Using this proprietary disc is the same reason piracy doesn't exist in the Gamecube.

I'm sure we've discussed this before but saying piracy doesn't exist in/on the Gamecube is a pretty false statement. Yes, it takes a little more effort to play a downloaded Gamecube game but I assure you people do it every day. It takes a copy of Phantasy Star Online and the broad band adapter connected to an ethernet card on your computer and you're pretty much good to go from there. It's an investment on about $70-$80 bucks and you can play all the Gamecube games you want for free. True, it's harder to do and not every game works perfect but if someone wants to play games for free band enough they'll find a way.

What systems haven't had some form of piracy on them in the past ten or so years?

Not sure how big this place is but if it is big enough to delegate only half or a fourth of the tables/seating to people wanting to use the internet this might work. You know, use foil or something to block the WIFI from going into the area of the shop you want to allow for people just there to drink some coffee so that people sitting there won't get a wireless signal at all. Then mark one area as the wireless internet access area.

Forgive me if blocking the WIFI signal is impossible... but I thought it was pretty easy to block the signal from spreading (like lining the inside of a cardboard box with foil leaving just one side open and putting the access point in there.

Like maybe some of the net game journalists don't have access to pre-release review copies like the big boys so they get a pirate version of the game from the net so they can be up to date on review, information, screenshots, etc. They may not be the ones distributing but it's still illegal I would think.

I don't know the whole story but Darkfader went a all melodramatic a week or so ago. If you would have looked for his DS page then you wouldn't have found it at all. He took it down and directed everything towards a NDS emulator, stating that it played commercial games (probably only to have emu kids email the guy bugging him about it) but it was some pretty lame drama on both sides. The emu author claiming Darkfader released it to the public and wasn't supposed to, posting pictures of him, trash talk, etc. It might have something to do with the age group that is doing this type of stuff but I hope, for everyone, that this isn't the same way all homebrew development scenes work. I'm pretty sure Darkfader is a slashdot poster. Maybe he could clear up some of what happened. Probably off topic but I like reality TV so this seems interesting to me.

The arcade isn't dead, it's just taking on a new shape. An arcade in a mall isn't going to do very well since you can just as easily go down to the GameStop and buy a game for your home console that looks better than some of the stuff in the arcade. You will find more and more people...and older people at that, hanging out at entertainment centers that sell alcohol. Dave and Busters and Main Event are two that seem to do really well in the Texas area. Main Even has bowling, billiards, shuffleboard, Blackjack and Poker tables (for fun..no cash exchanged) laser tag, and one of the best arcades in the area. Games like Initial D, DDR, Beatmania, (at least 150+ games total I'd guess) all set in an environment geared more towards adults (they have two bars inside the establishment and a smoking room for those that choose to do so) They kick the under 18 kids out after midnight and you'd be surprised to see how many drinking/drunk adults are having fun playing ticket games/skeeball and hanging out in the arcades. Just about the same amount you'll see playing pool or just chilling at the bar. The arcade isn't dead...you're just looking in the wrong place.

Fresh Games (the branch of Eidos) did bring over a few special games (Mr Mosquito, Mad Maestro!) but they pretty much stopped there. Maybe the demand just isn't there....or these games were not quality enough.

Taiko Drum Master for PS2 is a welcome addition as well but it would still be nice to see Vib Ribbon, Vib Ripple, Mojib Ribbon, Beatmania, Guitar Freaks, etc. I know most of those are music/rhythm style games but some of them are great fun and it's a shame they can't be enjoyed by those limited to playing only games without a modchip
