If you've only played a little C:V, you have missed a lot. In the first game, you start off knowing NOTHING about the situation, and the explainations come in small, not entirely connected fragments of journals, letters, research reports and newspaper clippings, then you get some explaination that some of this was intentional. The Umbrella Corporation was into bio-weapons research at the mansion, the STARS team was athreat, so they released the virus to clean the mansion and kill the STARS. Two survived the mansion, and started to poke around, find out Umbrella owns the whole of Raccoon City, and intends a large-scale Bio-Weapon test using the city as it's playground. A few survive, Raccoon City gets nuked to stop the spread of infection, and the survivors begin trying to expose the truth. C:V was the fourth story, setting up the next phase of things, then R.E.4 was to show what was happening in Europe as the rest of the survivors went after Umbrella HQ, but they derailed the whole thing by going a different way for R.E. 4 after swiktching it to Gamecube from PS2. I was really looking forward to seeing the end of the story, having played all the games through all the paths, then CHOP. I recommend playing all of them to see what game writing can be.
People didn't like Resident Evil because it took an intricate, well-established storyline, and ignored all of it to introduce a bunch of cliched sci-fi horror crap, not to mention the conspicuous lack o gore for a) a zombie movie and b)an adaptation of some of the most graphic and gory games ever released.
The biggest problem is, most well-written games have more plot depth than most movies. The movie studios, however, think the best way to go is to throw out all intelligence or subtlety when they make the movie. Thus, you get a lousy movie. This is also true of adaptations from books.
It's about behaviour, not worth or potential, but I suppose you're one of the Jedi robe-wearing, basement-dwelling B.O-reeking assholes who got into the whole tech thing due to not having the social skills to have any meaningful interaction due to your overwhelming insecurity. I am not a sheep, but I also don't treat every person who isn't my equal in intellect or skills like shit. So, fuck you and your attitude. Mediocrity is not, nor will ever be part of my life, but neither is contempt for all mankind because I'm 1337 and they're not.
Ah, yet anoither twit who never found the driver settings menu on the PS2. Power up with an empty drive, then push Triangle. You can turn on load acceleration and texture smoothing for PS1 games. A lot less painful, you stubby-dicked Troll!
They don't quite disappear completely. In the summer of 2003 I downloaded the complete run of Berzerk, which had been available in R1 for a while already, from a P2P network. I wanted to see the show, no video stores in Calgary that rented it (all 4 of them) had the whole set, usally Volume 1 was missing. With how spread out the city of Calgary is, it would take two hours each way on transit to get to some of the stores and back. I would have bought it, but $50.00 CDN plus tax for three or four episodes of a show I wasn't sure if I would like was a bit prohibitive, so I started with the first two episodes, got hooked, and DL'd the whole thing.
I will buy the Hong Kong release of the boxset soon, for $60.00 CDN, but if I hadn't dl'ed it to begin with, I never would have seen it. Unfortunately, with how expensive anime DVDs are here in the great butt-fucked north thanks to bad distribution deals made by companies who see us as too small to bother with (arguably correct), anime is too damned expensive for anyone who is'nt independently wealthy to collect.
Other examples: Akira 2-disc set (Non-metal box version) $79.99
Escaflowne T.V. series: $60.00 per three episode DVD
Trigun T.V. Series: $55.00 per volume (3 ep.)
Due to this, most of the people I know end up buying Region 0 bootlegs in Chinatown, or they download.
I am not saying it's right, but this is why fansubbing has taken hold for a lot of people.
Hey, Kartsux, what the fuck is it with all you sausage-fingered dildos who always bitch about scratching their CDs and DVDs anytime copy protection is mentioned? I have 200 DVDs, and the only ones to ever get damaged had exteremly rare accidents happen to them. Same goes for audio CDs and CD-ROM discs. Why the fuck can't you asshats get some co-ordination when away from your beloved keyboaard and mouse I hear you shitheads rant about in every console gaming article and just TAKE CARE OF YOU FUCKING POSESSIONS!!!!! P.S. Optical discs can be repaired, you fucknaught!
Yes, because everybody knows the Linux market is what drives gaming, especially mmogs. Asshat.

It should be pointed out to all you leftist demagogues around here that the movie "The Corporation" was in fact mostly financed by Rogers Communications, one of Canada's largest corporations. Hipocrisy and idiocy walk hand in hand in the anti-enterprise set.
Good headphones or speakers will reprroduce whatever the source is accurately, so if you have a player that has poor frequency response, paired with good headphones, the sound will still suck. The same applies in reverse. Shitty headphones on a good player will also give a poor listening experience.
Ah, yes. More Anit-Sony trolling. Your beloved Nintendo would never create artificial shortages to get some cheap press ink. They really just didn't make enough hardware to meet the demand for their godlike DS system. That's why the major retailer I work for only got 2 units per store on launch day, and nothing more till January 3rd, even though the first two sat there unwanted for the first week. Dillhole.
Haha, you said "Tool"!

If you expect to get an education in school, you really ned to go out into the real world and get an education!
Ever hear of Zelda:Four Swords Adventure for GC? Nintendo fanboys are all morons.
Congrats on the 2,012 morning Ironman streak!

Nice post. Way to fight the stereotypes that surround the computer-literate by looking like a smug, elitist jackass! I salute you!
Of course, the most effective anti-piracy measure for the SNES CD-Rom drive was the fact that it was vaporware!
Mod Option Request -1 (Clueless anti-free enterprise zealot)
But I thought IBN was the exclusive CPU supplier to Magnetbox!!!
Or should we just re-educate the world that AC posters are TOO dumb to write?
I think that may be as rare as Military Inteligence, Responsible Government and Canadian Democracy.

So, if Valve gives you a check for two days of the game's online fees of $0.00 U.S., you'd shut the hell up? Consider it done, Cockmonkey.
Serves you right for being such a lameass that you booked time of from your paying job just to buy and install a game the day it came out!

Nice try, but Sammy bought SEGA last year.
Last Wednesday, between 6:05 and 7:48 MST. Asshat.
