That's because the MPAA is fine with it, I'm sure; by "own," they mean watch only in their special DRMed format on valid Windows XP/Vista PC's only - no copying allowed.
A hybrid streaming/P2P application where bittorrent attempts to give you the bits in the correct order, but when it fails, a centralized server gives you what you need? Wouldn't be perfect, but it would take off a lot of the load from the server...
I'm suprised this even made the list. I find the original XBox controler QUITE comfortable; granted, I do have large hands, but it's also gotten rave reviews from people with small hands. Most of the griping I've heard about it is that they prefer the smaller, newer version instead, but placing the Xbox controler amongst such monstrosities as the Sega Activator seems like an excessive attack on the Xbox or Microsoft in general.
Start, and no matter how good you are, work your ass off to prove yourself, and then integrate yourself into a good company/business, where things start to become based on time AND skill.
This is what WoW teaches. No matter how much time you have, you won't go far at the end-game if you have no skills.
I love school
Today our term paper due date's set
Our instructor says that we WILL hand in the paper on time, and she'll accept no excuses except illness, with a note from our doctor, or a death in the immediate family, with a note from the dead member.
So this wiseass pipes up: "What about extreme sexual exhaustion?"
She waits for the laughs to die down and says:
"Well, I guess you'll have to learn to write with your other hand"
Indeed. I have massive hand stregnth due to my mousing and keyboarding, and the girls always like it when we're good with our hands. And of course, if THAT fails...
It depends; all you've mentioned are FPSes. Now I'll readily admit that there's not much you have to worry about in an FPS than just owning people... but look at almost any MMORPG, RTS, etc... you've got to watch your health, mana/energy, funds, bandages/potions, etc, all while killing and looting mobs, AND while dealing with chat (sometimes voice chat as well as in game). And in an RTS, if you can't multitask, you might be able to win the one battle you're looking at, but then when you go back to your base to build reinforcements, you notice it's now a flaming pile of debris because the other player could out-multitask you.
Actually, I believe that they're hoping the controversy will oscillate so quickly that never-before seen particles will emanate from the physicists in question.
Furthermore, Firefox devs are not-for-profit (afaik). They're attached to the browser, not the paycheck, so bringing in more users will increase support and bring in more devs that will work harder. You don't have the "Ok, we dominate the market, we can slack off now" mentality that you do with MS.
Wouldn't EXPENDING energy simply generate more heat? Even if the result *appears* to be a layer of ice over the oceans, this energy has to go somewhere else. I realize that the Earth isn't a closed system, but that's the problem - we've got energy input and not much energy output. Until we can fix this, any large-scale energy expenditure will NOT have a positive effect w/ regards to combating global warming, right?
(Ok, now some physicist type needs to come along and correct me, but still...)
Some people go through life putting up with work so that they can make enough money to afford to have fun at home. I don't personally like this view; regardless of how much fun you have at home, you've still got 8 hours of guaranteed boredom/misery at least 40 hours a week.
On the other hand, if you can get paid less and have fun AT WORK, you're MUCH better off. Ask yourself this - How much would you pay for 40 hours a week of fun?
If the difference between your current job and the more interesting job is less than or equal to that amount, you might need a switch.
IANAMD, but... You're using a circular argument; age is usually an indication of physical maturity, which is what really matters when it comes down to pregancy being safe - a 14 year old mature girl will have a safer pregnancy than an 17 year old one who has just started puberty.
So if girls are getting pregnant earlier because they're maturing earlier, it doesn't necessarily make it more dangerous.
Of course, I am of the opinion that 14 is too young to have a child under almost any circumstances; regardless of physical maturity, the psycological dangers cannot be disregarded.
While it's true that you shouldn't use wikipedia as an only source, you shouldn't use ANYTHING as an only source, and wikipedia is perfectly legitimate for a beginning point for some information.
Although this seems off topic, it's really not; the main gripe that most people have behind wikipedia is that anyone can edit it and there's no fact checking; on the other hand, publishers have just admitted that they don't do fact checking either, in the name of profit. Sure, a professional author is probably a lot less likely to make a mistake, but then again, they're human, and mistakes do get made. And this is leaving out the matter of intentional information spoofing, which obviously plagues all sorts of media.
So there you have it. Published material isn't safe either.
"How does reducing the Voltage in this way effect performance? If performance drops, then you could have just bought a computer with less processing power that also had lower power needs in the first place.
If there are no performance problems, then why dont all laptop manufacturers already do this?"
As was stated above: Two reasons. That is:
a) Mass production All processors are different, and some inherently work better than others. The default voltage setting for a laptop should probably be a little over the highest requirement they see for a particularly ineffecient laptop. Therefore, if you have a more effecient laptop, then you can safely scale down your voltages.
b) Stability Most laptops focus on being 100% stable, so they can overshoot the real MINIMUM required voltage in the name of stability. I'd guess the difference in voltage between a 100% stable laptop (Just kidding - a 99.9% stable laptop) and a 95% stable laptop can be quite large. If you're willing to sacrifice that ~5%, you can get a longer battery life.
As for performance losses - well, if you don't underclock it, it's possible to lose stability. But I think the point is you don't even have to underclock it, and you don't necessarily have to lose stability either.
I can't think of many other OSes that I can fit on a few floppies...
Saying "linux is too fat" is like saying "processors are too slow"
What processors? Too slow for what?
Simiarly, his blanket claim is so ambiguous as to have laughable comprehensability - let alone veracity.
We're dealing with the government here - anything that can do something right 66% of the time is FANTASTIC.
;-)
Sure beats the heck out of our missile shield, anyway
"Ring Oscillator" on a Single "Nanotube"?
Sounds like innuendo to me...
That's because the MPAA is fine with it, I'm sure; by "own," they mean watch only in their special DRMed format on valid Windows XP/Vista PC's only - no copying allowed.
Television is a "line" too.

They left one off.

Lately it's all been "Omg google + China = Censorship = t3h sux!"
It's good to see that they're being reasonable on the DoJ matter.
How's this for a real-world life lesson:
Start, and no matter how good you are, work your ass off to prove yourself, and then
integrate yourself into a good company/business, where things start to become based on time AND skill.

If you're not going to use MS, You're probably best off using linux.
Yea, but
1) Drive to video store
2) Sync iPod
3) Pay $$$
4) Drive home and watch movie
takes a lot more time in active participation than, say
1) Download movie in background
2) Pay $$$
3) Watch Movie

On the contrary, video games are now necessary to FIGHT TERRORISM.
You don't want the terrorists to win, do you?
Good. Now go play CS.

I don't think a flaming pit of despair is QUITE what we want to think of when we think "AIDS Research"...
