If she was to suggest a school experiment that involved drinking sulphuric acid, because she'd confused it with acetic, then she'd be in big trouble.
This is that double-edged sword that tries to blame someone for personal mistakes, and actions. Crossreferencing is a very good idea when you're playing with chemicals. Obviously this is a specific incedent, but it holds true for everything, multiple sources are better than one. Yeah, script-kiddies can run some software that someone created, but some true hacker could write the same software and run it, then where does the blame get placed, on the compiler creator?
I think you would see less Open-Source software if there was full responsibility placed on the creator, because one hardware conflict that creates negative results could amount to blames of "lost productivity" etc, and then again, you have a person or company looking for someone to take the blame.
....reminds me of the US FIRST Robotics Competition.
The engineers did the work, but the kids and the sponsor(s) reap the benefits. This isn't much different but at least it is giving kids a place to go after school, and pushing more people into the engineering field, which is something we may not need.
The one-button mouse is always at risk of being an endangered gizmo, but Apple keeps reintroducing the species into the wild, where they are promptly eaten by 2-buttons and scroll wheels.
I've heard the scroll wheel is a mean little bugger, moving up and down really fast, clicking occasionaly, I can see why the one button would be scared, and the 2 button mouse, don't get me started that thing is a menace to society.
However, users have noted that the software is not accurate; 'tagging' virtually every audio or video file it finds based on file extensions
But virtually every file on my computer is taken from someone, yay infringement, my pR0n collection is definately the most extensive though, and I would be greatly disheartened if my parents found it all, on my computer, while I'm at college, half a country away.
I was more referring to his assertions that it's easy to be an optimist in a country where the crappy things that have happend eventually fixed themselves.

Oh great, something else for the **AA to complain about.
Now lets see if I can compress X-Files episodes enough to fit on it, or better yet, just buy a PSP.

Log onto any CS/D3/Painkiller/HL2 server and you have something way better than AI: real people.
Sometimes they're n00bs though...or hax0rz. Guess that just makes them really good and really bad AI?
Yeah, you went to far.
(Note: post may not be retain humour outside of England, where football fans are stereotyped as hooligans) Oh crap, they're not?
Ever seen someone using one? No.
Guess that indicates the actual amount of people buying iPods.
That's like living in Nebraska and saying you don't see any snow shovels around.

That eventually, somewhere down the line the US government will get better. (Howard Zinn says so)
Makes you wonder how some presidents manage to get anything done. Focused direction indeed.
That's what I envision.
