If image search is going to be the next big thing bots are going to need to crawl deeper and more often... Most engines probably don't have the resources currently to support the extra space/load.
America is pretty good at consuming goods/services but with the population advantage China has theye's no doubt they'll have more broadband, doctors, sell more Big Macs, and have bigger political problems...
Fancy robots are expensive to develop at first but once mass production starts this could be a great alternative to dogs... Considering what it costs to train a dog and the "carrying costs" associated with keeping one...
What's so hard about making RSS or Atom feeds available? Google News is just repackaging other peoples headlines, the outlets might as well let readers have a choice on how they want to view the content.
Maybe they'll have robots in place by then, but it's more likely that Kim Jong Il will be dead or missing and the south won't have to worry about the north... Then again, who knows...

i wouldn't say linux sucks, quite the contrary unix may be a viable choice in some situations but the flexability of linux is probably its greatest asset... being able to use the same distribution for your server, laptop, and desktop with various different configs is something that is quite admirable
ok it has some problems that need to be worked out... but what are the alternatives... is this story meant to cause people to say "OMG M$ was right better contact my local sales rep" or is the community slacking???
instead of fixing the flaws that are made public by hackers faster they're goint to tell us and those who have malicious intent about more problems more often?
i can understand the appeal of playing pong on some retro hardware, but emulating that hardware so you can play pong on your desktop is a little overboard

never been a big fan of macs but i think that an apple push to gain a significant share of the "desktop" market would be great for the whole industry.
it would force more developers to think about things like cross platform compatibility and standards more seriously than they do now...
all a net plus for linux/open source...

if you have the choice between paper or plastic go for paper until there is some peer review of these machines and their code...
