  1. I hope this doesn't get as bad as WebTV did. on In-Game Advertising Moves Towards Testing · · Score: 1

My sister had Microsoft's WebTV for a while before finally getting a computer to surf the net. I hated that thing. You were forced to watch unavoidable commercials (full screen ad banners) during the loading of every page. This was at dialup speeds so I'm sure you can immagine how annoying it was. If video games start going down this route, they will lose this regular customer.

But I guess if you are using some other rendering program that doesn't have any of these features, you could also run a simple sketch filter in Photoshop(or whatever your favorite imaging program is) . Either way, I'm gonna give this program a try to see how well it stacks up. :)

I don't think that lawyers themselves understand legalese properly.

I agree. I took a law class in High School. The problem with today's law is it has gotten so complex. Interpeting law is about on the same level as interpeting the christian bible. Anyone can interpet just about anything one way or another. If they need backup, there is always some previous person/case that they could look up showing the same interpetation to help argue their case. However, the other lawyer can do the same thing to show a completely different interpetation to argue their side. In the end, the lawyer that wins is the one who puts the best spin onto their argument to properly sway the judge and/or jury.

And people wonder why most politicians used to be lawyers.. :-/

This has caught me out - I trusted Panasonic's name, and the shop (hardware) had a "Discount Battery Centre" sign, so I thought I had a bargain. Duracells would be 2 or 3 times as much, but probablary last 10 times longer in my GBA. As a result, I won't buy Panasonic batteries again, even the high-end ones.

That is the reason I stick to using rechargables for just about everything in my house that uses AA batteries (aside from remotes).

Rechargable battery packs for the GBA are great, especially the kits that come with 2 battery packs. I keep one charging while I'm using the other and when the one I'm using finally dies, the one charging is ready to go.

How about using concepts from 'Mutant League'(both the cartoon series and the video game series).

Each team could be completely unique. Players could be completely customized. The rules would be pretty loose about what you could do to the other players(like killing them). Also, I would make it so you wouldn't be limited to just one sport. You could challenge another team to whatever type of competition you wanted .

Now that I think of it, EA does own the rights to the franchise. I wonder if they would be up to resurrecting it as a MMO?

Think about it. In the 8-Bit days, the NES came out after the Sega Master System and Atari systems.

The 32/64-bit days, they waited to bring out the N64 long after the PSX and Sega Saturn. The same thing occurred with the Gamecube arriving just after the PS2 and XBox.

Nintendo likes to sit back and see what the competion comes out with and then trumps it shortly after.

When I first read this I was pretty excited... but to be honest I'm not so sure now. It seems like lately cartoon series' are really lacking. I mean look at the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles compared to the old one... They chopped out so much of what make the Turtles so cool. I think its because they tried to adapt them more to pop culture. Hopefully they won't do the same to the Fantastic 4.

I loved the original TMNT cartoon series as well. It took me a while to get used to the new one. As someone who also read the Mirage Comics that TMNT originally spawned from, I find it easier to appreciate the new series as most of the stories have been ripped from there.

As for the new FF series, I'm not sure what to think. The problem with making a cartoon based on such an old comic book series would be deciding what should be used. You have purists who want as much of the original stories intact (some of which by today's standards may be too hokey). You also have people who want to make it 'modern' or 'hip' but usually bastardize the whole thing. Hopefully, a happy medium will be found, like with Batman:the animated series from 1992 (not this new piece of crap that just came out). Hmmm...maybe they could get Paul Dini to write it. ;-)

As I recall, the primary characters were from the Metroid (Mother Brain), Castlevania (Belmont), Punch-out (King Hippo), Kid Icarus (same), Megaman (same), and ... Zelda (Princess--?) games. I know there's a couple other regulars on the show that I'm forgetting. Donkey Kong was one, wasn't he?

I don't recall Donkey Kong being a regular on the show. I do remember there being a short lived Donkey Kong cartoon though.

As for other regulars, there was the Eggplant wizard from Kid Icarus who always hung out with King Hippo. Also, the second season they introduced that horrible 'Gameboy' character.

These prices are waaaay off. I bought my NES in 1985 for $80, it had 2 controllers and Super Mario Bros which I kept at my mother's house. That same year, my father bought the bigger set for $150 that came with 2 controllers, light gun, R.O.B., duck hunt and gyromite.

A few years later, nintendo offered a NES with Super Mario Bros / Duck hunt, 1or 2 controller(s) and the light gun for $99.

In 1992, I bought my SNES for $149 which came with 2 controllers and Super Mario World. I also bought a Genesis that year for $200 which came with Altered Beast and 2 controllers.

I did notice though that as the prices went down on the SNES and Genesis, not only did they stick you with only one controller, the cords got noticably shorter (like from 5-6 feet to 3 feet).
