everybody should try it, just for a few days. you will increase your productivity for many tasks, others are just better done with a mouse. the things is that everybody just assumes to use the mouse for everything without knowing there are faster ways to do things (by keyb).
i even used a DTP program way back on a computer that had no mouse. i'd probably go nuts now if had to do all that stuff again, but back then i didn't miss a mouse at all.
you got work, you got family requirements, other stuff you must do, etc. add some of that important me-time/down-time (even if it is just only an hour), and there is little time left to sleep.
are they sure they want someone from samsung to help them on the matter of batteries? people are still joking about that samsung note 7 battery fiasco from two years ago...
does google always have to pay all news sites that it links to or only those that want to be paid. if it's not mandatory i don't have an issue perce with link tax, it's up to the news provider to decide if they want less traffic to their site or not.
first i thought she just wanted to block the amazon retailer services, the website and their streaming stuff etc. but then it also included AWS, for some reason. it's just a cloud provider, why does that even matter? ok, it's a big cloud provider, but who cares, if they provide crappy service i'm sure a lot of people will find their cloud needs somewhere else, choice-a-plenty. it's like saying you're going to block all traffic with IBM servers or all companies that use Oracle or another silly, no good reason.
"Everyone has a smartphone these days, therefore everyone should have access to at least one mobile payment service"
nope, i don't trust mobile payments at all and think nobody should be using them. they're running on an always connected device, known to have security issues because there are no updates anymore, loaded with apps that spy on you in the best case and drop malware and other unpleasantires in the worst case.
tell me again why i would want to do anything money related on such a platform.
indeed, people ask me to install app x or y, or show of this new app which is funny/entertaining/... (but mostly never really useful) and install just about anything. i have a smartphone but install almost nothing, simply because i can't trust any of these apps. i do have some on there which have a paid subscription, but even those you can't be 100% sure that they are ethical enough to not mistreat your data.
too much screen time is bad, the question is what is too much? that amount will differ between people as well. as always it boils down to a healty balance; if the only thing you know and have is a screen, that's not a good situation.
What all these efforts in making it easier to upgrade phones to the latest version are about it shifting the focus from Google to the manufactures. Google has it made so easy to upgrade your phone to the latest version that it now is absolutely clear for consumers to find out who the good players are and which the bad ones are. There are no excuses anymore.
as if other OS's don't have this problem. you have these rubbish applications even on Windows, MacOS and sometimes even Linux. they bring nothing new to the table in the best case, in the worst case they feed you ads, spy or infect you.

it's a hit & miss, just like with games.
some applications run great other don't even start.
also, all crossover patches should normally find their way into wine after some time.
"This raises the question of what's going to happen to video ads once broadcast TV goes away."
you browse the internet, well expect even more ads there.
sure you may use an adblocker, but i can assure you a lot of people don't.
from the newsguard site;
"orange rated sites indicate satire sites"
you can use a fake name to allow free expression, but you must use real biometrics.
what else did you expect from a budget laptop?
that they'd use high quality components?

fired from the university
hired by the army.
the best one is those high graded hdmi cables
and then listening to people claim they can hear a difference.
the aliens want to be on facebook too!

"Every tool it designs for positive expression and connectivity can be subverted for polarization and misinformation."
this is true for any tool, doesn't matter that it is facebook related.
"The question is whether Facebook puts in the forethought and aftercare to safeguard its new tools with proper policy and moderation."
we also already know the answer to this; no, they don't care about our privacy or ethics in general.
who cares about the length of pop songs? certainly not the people listening to them or the mentioned 'stars' wouldn't be the stars they are.
we get both skynet & wopr irl
for a new Atari ST with midi 2.0 ports!

it only just got it's rings, and it's already losing them;

at least a portion of the R&D department will keep their jobs, instead of all just ending up on the street.
