I'm in the UK and personally I wouldn't trust the current system or anyone based on machines. I live in a small village an hours journey by train from London, so election comes and to vote you take a small card (with just your name and address and a 3 digit number on it) to the town hall. They go "are you this person?" you go "yes", they hand you the papers and you walk into a little wooden box and vote... that's it... how can we trust a system so simple and easy to defraud with something as simple as stealing a peice of paper.
Machines wouldn't be any more difficult to trick since the same sort of system would apply.
So no, I don't think technology will help at all, the system is far too simple as it is. People can break it now and the only difference if we use machines is we can have errors or crashs which voids all former votes.
So no technology doesn't solve anything int his case, it just makes more problems.
to be perfectly honest I'm the same. Unless they bring out some amazing games for the PS2 I'll stick to the revolution. As for the Xbox.. well I don't like the look of it and to be honest the Xbox just doesn't intrest me..
Back hen I was 10-11 I was happy to buy everything I could get my hands on, now I'm almost 20 and games wise I've not bought much at all. It tends to get to the point where I'm only buying games I REALLY want to play (Usually some weird Japanese RPG or mecha game) or something which is a must buy just to stop the boredom (GTA:SA comes to mind , it's the best example).
It seems these days games are mass produced and the internet kills more hype then it makes. I remember Nintendo magazines and "weird Japanese RPG... looks cool! I can't wait to get it!" in the SNES era. Now it's "oh look another 12 RPGs no one cares for".
Hell I'm still waiting for Shin Megami Tensei 3 in the UK.. yet hold no hope:(
I've got to disagree on paper mario. I'm like half way through it and I just don't care to play any more. It looks fantastic and could of been great but the RPG element is majorly lacking. You do nothing but try to avoid the same old enemies over and over it's rather short sighted in that the combat also takes forever and you never feel like you're stronger then you were the last 3 stars.
Symphonia is one of the best RPGs I've played though. Other then no option of the Japanese sound track onthe PAL version (A major downside to me as I love the Japanese voices for the cast for everyone except kratos), it's pretty much flawless . One of the best games I've ever played.
I think you'll find square enix have released several games on the GBA in Japan (The full metal alchemist series for example) and quite a few world wide. If all you'v eplayed is crappy FF games I advice you to go pick up Sword of mana, it's an awesome RPG with alot of depth and alot more fun then "tap attack and watch".
Can we please stop having "a quack said this" on the front page? Bill Gates doesn't have a clue about the industry anymore. When a guy goes "IE is better then Firefox and just as secure if not MORE secure" you know he's an idiot.
It's getting boring to see the same group of people drone on how they will be the best/worst and so on and so forth.
Read what you said in a non-geek way. It's just crap to most people. Why not just be honest..
"Firefox will stop spyware installing on your PC, which will make your PC run better in the long term. Which means you won't have to spend money on crap software or buy a new PC quite as soon".
Sell Firefox to the idiots through their wallets since they won't care for the truth.
I never said he'd killed anyone. I was saying it's possible and that one guy reading something will change jack.
People seem to be ignorant to the fact that Chinese people WANT/ACCEPT this as normal. As long as they are fine they don't care for the rest. Maybe before we start going "LEARN ZEE TRUTH!" we should address things like schools teaching racism against the Japanese no?
After all being ignorant of the pass doesn't hurt anyone else, where as hating a whole nation right next door does.
So maybe before people go "LOOK HERES THE TRUTH!" maybe you should accept the truth isn't what these people want. They want to live in their bubble because they were raised this way.
Ever heard a story about some backwards guy finding his way to the future or finds out the truth, then hates it and wants to return to his own time/world/ignorance? Welcome to most Chinese people.
Keep your head down and do your job and China is little different to any other country on the whole. Information means very little to most people today, they just want to THINK they know about it. Look at the war in Iraq in detail then ask the average person (AKA not a slashdotter), you'll see a HUGE difference and if you tried pointing it out they wouldn't care any more then we would care what they had for dinner.
Well done. Slashdot maybe legal there (or may not) but them links will outright not be. So every time someone clicks them links and the Chinese government finds out and decides to take action is on YOUR HEAD.
You may have just killed someone for all you know. I suggest before you start "leading the blind" you start thinking.
Freedom in China may or may not lead to you dying. Some ignorant bastard on slashdot giving links doesn't change the othjer 99.9% of China which won't rebel so you just get a guy taken away at 3am never to be seen again.
Is it just me or does this seem VERY basic? Any idiot can stack blocks how difficult is it to tell them blocks to stack? They even give them magnets to do it..
Do you understand computers and how to run one securely? Yes/No if Yes continue, if no then you arn't. Is a patch finished and installed? If yes then you're fine. If no then you arn't protected.
Obviously opening strange program files comes under number 1, but they may make it three points if you wish.
And isn't that just the same as alot of other movies that sucked?
We live in an era where you can buy anything, including a good review. Then enough people will just go "wow that looks good!" and go see it based on said review so they will make a fortune by paying out a little money.
I saw a documentry on the series the other day.. and Lucas didn't even start WRITING the story untill most of the sets were at least 75% done.. what kind of director makes hundreds of sets before he even has a story? We all know it'll be the same as the other films. Light sabers every where, Darth spawns, Obi wan and Yoda head for the hills and we'll either see a few Jedi die or it'll just state they died.
Star wars is star wars... and Lucas is well Lucas..
Ask yourself, why should you get the money over another OSS project? Who will benefit from your work, who will want to use it? Why should they pay you to do it?
Work out who, when and why. Then focus on the "data" you pick up. Ring round and ask what the companies themselvs "want" from software and get it done ASAP so you can go "oh yes we have that, we're looking for funding and will offer support to anyone who donates x amount of money (say $500, it's nothing to a company) for 6 months. After that we're unsure of what we'll charge but it's unlikely to be much more. But obviously discounts for any who supported us in the early days".
We shouldn't need the courts. The law should be black and white. "you can do this" and "you cannot do this". When you leave grey areas you get idiots like the RIAA exploiting them to make profit.
Whenever your PC gets infected with a virus or 10 bits of spyware a large foot swings out from under the desk and hits you in the groin. It'd even work on them guys pretending to be women!

But we all know the over 12s only goto see Emma Watson in hope of a pantie shot. It's like going to see the new Star wars films just to see Padame...
If you don't know what you're doing thend on't play with it. Some kid did and got burnt, wheres the news here?

Don't see Google forcing anyone to use them, do you?
Firefox > IE, etc.
Gaim > Trillian, aim, msn mess, etc.
thunderbird > outlook, etc.
And all of the above are on windows too, so are a few others I bet.
I never said he'd killed anyone. I was saying it's possible and that one guy reading something will change jack.

Much like an election then :)

Who will stick to their plans? I planned to go see HHGG the first day.. and I haven't even seen it yet. I probably won't for a week or three.
Judging by people I know and myself out of every 10 who plan to go first day only 2-3 will make it.
Is it just me or does this seem VERY basic? Any idiot can stack blocks how difficult is it to tell them blocks to stack? They even give them magnets to do it..
how much did all that oil cost? That's a huge amount of oil..
Other then some twat who pulls out infront of you and almost smashs your car up.
Or the school time rush.
Or some gimp in a lorry trying to overtake another lorry going the same speed.
Or some cunt going 90 behind you trying to make you go faster.
Or, Or, Or, Or..
Driving on the road is fun 70% of the time, the other 30% is a drone or some wanker trying to put you in an ambulance.
Then why doesn't someone write it and kill the whole point?
Are you protected in 2 answers

It's a PS2 with a gamecube controller.
But hey MS stealing others idea isn't new is it?
