I've said this before, and I will say it again - IT workers need to get a national (international?) IT Workers Union going.
We may not all agree with unions, but done right WE can start to tell big business what we need THEM to do. Add to that the might of a IT Union to lobby in government. Fight fire with fire.
Before anyone says it, YES we need to include countries like India, Pakistan and the Philippines in this union. If we get all IT workers on an equal pay footing - the whole benefit of outsourcing goes right out the window.
Actually, I always put that on my Resume to get prospective employers to chuckle (when they realise I meant dish-washer).
Surprisingly, it has been a great way to break the ice at an interview and get a dialog going.
I really have no delusions of grandeur, in fact I am proud of my work history (half of which many kids my age would consider "crap" jobs). I think everyone should be required to work in a low-end job for a while (i.e. Restaurant/Kitchen, Gas Station, Retail Store, Grocery, etc). I think it gives people the proper perspective and empathy for that poor First-Day-Cashier or Lowly-Helpdesk-Operator who we might otherwise be quick to temper with.
If you want to take ownership and be proud of your work, do it yourself.
If I am taking pro-level photos - that is the work I would be proud of. I could care less how I get it printed - as long as the print is good quality (Dye-Sub) and is around the same cost (or cheaper) as when I was in a darkroom developing my own pictures.
I'm sorry to do this, but you sir are flat-out wrong. Epson does NOT sell a Dye-Sub for under $100. The Picturemate is what you are thinking of, and it is an Inkjet printer. The cost per print on it is $.29 for a 4x6. So, it is more expensive. I will give you this though, the quality is very very good. Been a popular product.
Feel free to try and argue with me, I handle these products as a Senior Technician in our (a Fortune 100 Distributor) Printing and Video dept.
Good quality photo printers are just too innexpensive to justify using a retail service.
Um, Walmart's photo printing service uses Dye-Sub printers - and a 4x6 print only costs $.19. I'm sorry, but the quality is excellent and the price is far cheapers than a "consumer" dye-sub's (Kodak, Hi-Ti, et al) cost-per-print.
I'm with you on this one. I love my HT setup, and it is pretty good. But, I think it is fun to go to the movies with 3-4 friends every once in a while.
Well, I disagree. I am actually building a homebrew CNC router. Does it take time and some skill? Yes. Is it expensive? Depends, all the components for mine have cost ~$2,000USD.
Now, the ability to mfg anything that pops into my head is truly amazing! Many products I were thinking of buying, I am now designing my own versions - and planning on selling them too!
I think that is the big thing. Who needs to pay some Giant Mega-Corp when I can make the product myself?
I would risk the shock to grab that chick. Hottie McHotterson...
Exactly. I can see your lics. plate for a much longer distance than a shitty little RFID chip can transmit.
I bet it doesn't have thrusters either!!
Union Guy: "Hey, Paktook, join us and we will get you $10 AN HOUR, not day. Paktook: "Holy Shiite!" *signs papers*
Never underestimate the promise of more money.
I was 'visiting' his Mom too, and she was downstairs from the Childrens Cancer Ward. Those "research" dogs running around were actually Therapy Dogs.

Especially thos where you only have two weeks and a $100 budget...
I'm glad some people rtfa.
Thanks to PhotoJerk.Com for the space!
Yeah, version two will have full thruster controls and a much better camera.
This IS the point here. Although and investigation is not an arrest - it will still disrupt his life is massive ways.
+1, Missed the Joke?

That's ok. When I worked in a restaurant, I was a Hydro-Ceramic Technician. I was damned good, too!
Aww, come on mods - that was FUNNY!
What would be really cool is if it came back online in a week or so, and was many hundreds of thousands of miles away already...

Hence the word OR in my comment.

Yeah, and pro photographers never use selective focus or soft-filters on purpose!
