  1. Who cares about Distro Packages, Compile your own! on Mozilla Uncooperative With OSS Groups on Security? · · Score: 0

I don't know about y'all, but I hate commercial linux distros, especially redhat.

I'd prefer to compile software from the source, rather than install some pre-config'ed package.

Mozilla is doing just fine, but I think it has the same overall outlook... 'if you're that stupid to use a package manager, then you gots to wait'.

I hear people (who generally do .NET development, or are just too internet-challenged to even understand how to configure their outlook client) who say they don't trust systems like linux, or open source products, simply because there is no corporate backing, or 'market share'.

Since you aren't going to get people to pay for your web application when they can DL it for free from SourceForge and extend (fork) it themselves, it's better to turn your project into a live service and then charge subscriptions to clients who need to use the program/service.

Funding an open source project is a HIGH RISK investment, so unless you are looking for someone who wants to make a donation to a non-profit organization (which would require you to provide them w/ the proper receipts & legal red tape bs), chances are you're just day dreaming.

I advocate open source products all day, and really feel like it's a waste of breath.
