Movie industry greats were baffled -"It seems that no matter how much money we throw at a movie, how many special effects we have, and the number of big stars we put in it, people just aren't interested." Much like their films, nobody made mention of a story...
Intel is constantly adding new commands and register to the CPU, this is the whole point of the article, so it can easily do it to greatly increase execution speed of ALL programs, not just a few!!!
I remember telling people that you could only get viruses from running an exe or com file. You can't get it from reading a text document. Then boot sector viruses came out. Then macro viruses came out. Then email viruses came out.
Don't read it dickhead. How long does it take to skip that 8 line excerpt on the front page. What, do you reply to every single story that you are not interested in...
I believe the correct name is "Quagaar", and we will find "perfectly-preserved remains of a Quagaar warrior" on this planet. I hail this as the greatest discovery ever.
Hey, what is wrong with trying something new... I suppose all those windows users should stick with their OS, just because there is a few problems. Perhaps this is not the correct place to ask this question, but don't blame him for trying something new.
Perhaps the solution for Microsoft is to sell these modchips themselves. They are pretty expensive from what i hear, and microsoft just needs to sell them for enough so that they recuperate losses incurred on the initial sale.
You do realise that there is more than one other person on Slashdot? Different people are arguing different positions, not one person who can not make up their mind.
I think, that like all similar situations, the small shops need to specialise. The problem with the chains, is that they can not do this, they need to cater to the Lowest Common Denominator.
Microsoft didn't just pay to get new games for their console, they payed to keep games from Nintendo's and Sony's consoles. That is worth a bit as well...
* The FPS and RTS genre's games are MUCH easier to play with mice. The dreamcast could accept a mouse -- can any others, and do the games work with it?
I could never see mouse use taking off in the living room situation... it would just look strange (or stranger!)

good one, you know about who designed the game, their past performance, and how they're likely to perform.
exactly the same...
So you mean that guy telling me I can get free computer/Mobile Phones/Cars by just sending him $10 is trying to defraud me??
And in other news, Scientists have still failed to find a cure for cancer.

So if someone in your family sends you a message that your mother has died... this would be spam?

Of course, this may legitimise the mod-chips!
Another way to get anti-aliasing effect is simpy to poke yourself in the eye, every 10 minutes... Poor mans fancy video card.
Yes, but remember, where do most of the chips come from, Intel, AMD, Motorola, IBM...

It actually has nothing to do with this. They only charge like this, because...SURPRISE...people will pay like this.
So, when Microsoft does it it's bad, but when Sony does the same thing it's a good thing?
Exactly, consider it this way - When you have sex with your girlfriend, it is good, but when I have sex with you girlfriend, it is bad!
OK, when they release that book "slashdot for dummies" I suggest that nobody here buy it!
nuff said.
Damn, I knew there was some reason i wasn't supposed to buy that new CPU. At least my sim-family will be happy!
You would probably have thought, "why would someone make a chip that fast? What could i possibly do with it."
Im sure your not thinking that today!
